Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers

It’s that time of year again, when the Vikings take on some cheese heads. The Vikings travel to Lambeau Field this Thursday to square off against the Green Bay Packers.

A new chapter for one of the greatest rivalries in sports is written in three days, and as much as I would have liked to have been, I unfortunately will be unable to attend the game in the person.

That said, if you are making the trek and attending the game, let us know in the comments below

Minnesota Vikings vs. Atlanta Falcons

The Vikings return home this Sunday as they take on the feisty Atlanta Falcons in a game that is sure to be memorable.

The Falcons’ offense is lead by QB Matt Ryan and his two standout wideouts, Julio Jones and Roddy White. The Vikings defense will have to be on its ‘A’ game if it wants to contain the Falcons’ soaring O.

For those who are curious about the Vikings as they head back to TCF Bank Stadium, I have it on good word that tickets are selling fast, and that even in some places, they are sold out. That said, a little birdy (and no, not the Falcon kind) told me that tickets can sill be found here. Skol Vikings!

Adrian Peterson Highlights

If you have yet to see this video about Adrian Peterson by Joseph Vincent, then you’re in for a real treat.

It is one of the best highlight mixes I have seen on the net. Do yourself a favor - watch. And while you’re at it, show any and all Vikings fans a video piece that is sure to make their day.

First Regular Season Home Game At TCF Bank Stadium

The first regular season home game at TCF Bank Stadium is FINALLY here. While the word around town is that the game is an expected sell out, I was able to secure tickets through the fine folks at Ticket King.

So if you’re looking for tix to the game, you can find them here.

The Vikings are playing the Patriots, so this is sure to be a tough matchup, especially if Tom Brady is on his ‘A’ game. But I’m confident our Vikes will put up a fight… and possibly a win. Skol Vikings!

Vikings Regular Season Starts This Sunday September 7th

It’s almost here. It’s FINALLY almost here. In four more days the Vikings kick their regular season off on Sunday September 7th against the St. Louis Rams.

Like all Vikings fans, I will be glued to my TV this Sunday, looking to see how new head coach Mike Zimmer has prepared the boys for what will hopefully result in a win.

I mean, how great would it be to start the season off undefeated. Fingers crossed, and Skol Vikings! `

Meet Vikings Offensive Coordinator Norv Turner

Meet Norv Turner, the Offensive Coordinator for the Vikings, and the man that will hopefully spearhead an improved passing and scoring attack. Turner has many years of coaching experience, so we’re confident he’ll be able to get the job done.

Like with most coaches, he started out in the college ranks. In Turner’s case, he had a near decade long stop with USC. From there, he made his coaching debut in the NFL with the Los Angeles Rams in 1985, acting as a Wide Receivers Coach. For the rest of his career in the NFL he would have stints as an Offensive Coordinator, as well as the occasional Head Coaching gig.

Turner had Head Coaching stops with the football team in Washington, the Oakland Raiders and the San Diego Chargers. He achieved the most success with Chargers, going 56-40 in his six seasons at the helm.

Today, Turner is in charge of creating the offensive game plan for the Vikes. And given his track record, expect to see big things from the Vikings offense this year.

Meet Vikings Defensive Coordinator George Edwards

Meet George Edwards, the new Vikings Defensive Coordinator. Brought in with Mike Zimmer’s new regime, the veteran football coach with over 20 years of coaching experience is looking to improve a Vikings defense that struggled mightily last year (Need evidence? The Vikings D gave up the second most yards per game in the league, at a staggering rate of 397.6).

Edwards got his start in 1991, working as an Assistant at the University of Florida. From there, he would work his way up in the College ranks until he found himself in the NFL, working for the Dallas Cowboys in 1998 as their Linebackers Coach. It was here for the first time that he was able to work with Mike Zimmer, who during Edwards’ time spent with Cowboys acted as, at first a Defensive Backs Coach, and then Defensive Coordinator. Edwards would work alongside Zimmer for three years before leaving for the team’s rival in Washington.

From there, Edwards would bounce around the NFL and even make on one last stop at the University of Florida – never staying in one place for more than three years (except with the Miami Dolphins acting as a Linebackers Coach).

Today, Edwards is looking to hang tight with Vikings and help improve a defense that needs improving. Skol Vikings!

NFL Pre-Season: Vikings vs. Cardinals

In their second preseason game at TCF Bank Stadium, the Vikings take on the Arizona Cardinals on Saturday August 16th.

As I have said before, while the competition isn’t always great at pre-season football games, prices sure are! So come on out and watch the Vikings do battle against the Arizona Cardinals at TCF Bank Stadium.

Meet Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer

Mike Zimmer, while known for his colorful language on Hard Knocks when he was the Defensive Coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals, has a coaching career that spans 20 seasons in the NFL.

Getting his break with the Cowboys in the early 90’s as a Defensive Back Coach, by the start of the 2000’s he had worked his way up in the Cowboys coaching system and was promoted to Defensive Coordinator.  During the 2003 season with the Cowboys, the defense gave up the fewest yards in the NFL thanks to the schemes and strategies Zimmer implemented.

Following a one year stint with the Atlanta Falcons as their Defensive Coordinator in 2007, Zimmer was named the Defensive Coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals. This, of course, is where people met the outspoken coach on Hard Knocks.

In 2009, Zimmer earned NFL Assistant Coach of the Year honors from Pro Football Weekly/Pro Football Writers and from CBSSports.com, after guiding the Bengals to the 4th ranked defense in the league. In 2011, the Bengals finished with the 7th ranked defense in total yards and 9th ranked defense in points allowed. In 2012, the Bengals finished with the 6th ranked defense in total yards and 8th ranked defense in points allowed. And in 2013, his last season with the Bengals finished with the 3rd ranked defense in total yards.

Now currently the 10th head coach in Vikings history, here’s to hoping that just like everywhere else he has gone, Zimmer improves the Vikings D and the team as a whole. Skol Vikings!

NFL Pre-Season: Vikings vs Raiders

The first Vikings home game at TCF Bank Stadium is on August 8th against the Oakland Raiders. And boy oh boy, like all Vikings game -- but especially the first home game of the year -- is it going to be a fun one.

Yes, we know it is a pre-season game, and not the first home game of the regular season, but still, it is technically the first Vikings home game at TCF Bank Stadium (SO GET EXCITED PEOPLE!).

And remember, while the competition isn’t always great at pre-season football games, prices sure are! So come on out and watch the Vikings do battle against the Oakland Raiders at TCF Bank Stadium.

Looking for tickets to the game? I know of this great place where you can purchase them here.

Given how much you Viking fans like highlight videos of players (our page views show you guys can’t get enough!), I figured I would treat you to one of the best on the interwebz.

The below video belongs to Cordarrelle Patterson, and given how quick the highlights come in the package, like his nickname, it feels like the video is done in a flash.

Vikings Home Bench Location At TCF Bank Stadium

Want to be seated on the home team side and be in view of the Vikings bench as you attend a game this year at TCF Bank Stadium? Then be sure to purchase tickets in between the sections of 107 and 114.

Getting seats there can be a fun experience for a Vikings fan, as you are in view of some behind the scenes dealings during games - such as coaches talking to players and players getting taped up. While we have tickets on either side of the stadium, we just thought all of you Vikings fans should know where the home team’s bench will be.

Tickets are selling fast this year, so if you want to be the first one of your friends to see Bridgewater in person, you need to get tickets today! We sell tickets for every Vikings game, and you can check them out here. Skol Vikings!

Adrian Peterson Is The Number 4 Player In The NFL Top 100

As NFL.com's annual Top 100 list revealed it's top 10 last night, it came as no surprise to Vikings fans that Purple Jesus found himself apart of such an esteemed list.

Peterson wound up taking the number four spot, and in doing so, was the highest ranked running back in the NFL. In overall rankings he fell behind only Peyton Manning, Calvin Johnson and Tom Brady.

Teddy Bridgewater Gloves

Teddy Bridgewater was recently asked about his use of gloves while playing quarterback, and he had the following to say about the hubbub surrounding it:

"Man, I don't think gloves have been much of a deal like this since Michael Jackson, but to this day and for the rest of my career, I'm going to continue to wear gloves.”

You tell’em Teddy. Wear gloves if they make you play better. I DON’T CARE SO LONG AS YOU ARE GOOD BECAUSE THE VIKINGS HAVE NEEDED A GOOD YOUNG STARTING QUARTERBACK SINCE FOREVER.

But…

Teddy, it’s been since OJ that gloves have been a big deal. Also, unlike OJ, every time you wear a glove, make sure it fits.

Vikings Rookies Projections

Today, Bucky Brooks of nfl.com made some season long projections for some of the more talented players in this years rookie class. Unsurprisingly (because we already know they're awesome), rookies Teddy Bridgewater and Anthony Barr were included amongst the group of players Brooks listed in the article.

Here is what Brooks had to say about Barr:
Best-case scenario: Vikings coach Mike Zimmer has been tight-lipped about his plans for Barr, but there are rumors about a Von Miller-like role for the rookie. Barr is penciled into the starting lineup as a SAM linebacker, which would place him opposite the tight end in an "under" defense. This would allow Barr to use his hands to jam and disrupt big-bodied pass catchers at the line while also tasking him to set the edge on run plays. He could become a designated edge rusher in the Vikings' nickel package, giving the unit a dynamic defender to spice up a pass rush that will be without Jared Allen for the first time in seven years. Given Barr's athleticism and production as a pass rusher at UCLA, the hybrid role could pay immediate dividends for the Vikings.
Worst-case scenario: Barr spent just two seasons as a linebacker at UCLA, so he is still a raw player at the position. Thus, the Vikings have to carefully weigh the pros and cons of loading him up with responsibilities before he is fully comfortable with the pro game. Additionally, Barr must become comfortable dropping in space and covering tight ends/wide receivers in the slot. Juggling so many new responsibilities could prevent Barr from making an immediate impact.
Projection: 65 tackles, 7.5 sacks, four forced fumbles, one interception
And on Bridgewater:
Best-case scenario: Bridgewater is not only the most pro-ready quarterback in this class, but he lands in the best situation to succeed as a young player. He is flanked by an All-Pro back (Adrian Peterson) and a wealth of dangerous weapons on the perimeter (Cordarrelle Patterson, Greg Jennings and Kyle Rudolph), thus allowing him to function as a game manager from the pocket. If Bridgewater can take the starting job from Matt Cassel early and stick to playing like a pass-first point guard, he can help the team get back into playoff contention this season.
Worst-case scenario: The Vikings are happy to have Cassel serve as a temporary placeholder, but team officials surely want the No. 32 overall pick to claim the job quickly -- if not in training camp. The rookie is the future for the franchise at the position, so it's important for him to show he is ready for the job early in the season, to inspire hope and optimism throughout the organization. A prolonged incubation period would be a major disappointment.
Projection: 3,200 passing yards, 23 passing touchdowns, 11 interceptions, 62 percent completion rate.
Get excited Vikings fans because if these two blue chips can perform as Brooks is projecting them to, the Vikings are going to be very good this year.

Anthony Barr Highlights

Get excited Vikings fans, cause this kid is a big hitter. Check out the hit he lays at the 1:30 mark. He gets called for roughing the passer, but from my stand point the hit looked clean.

Teddy Bridgewater Highlights

Try watching this YouTube video of Teddy and not get excited about the kid. He's fearless. The play at the 1:10 minute mark is absolutely INSANE.

Minnesota Vikings Draft Picks 2014

Minnesota Vikings had a pretty good draft pick for 2014. Some fans were disappointed about the Vikings failure to pick Johnny Football from Texas A&M, however, Teddy Bridgewater has the polish to compete with Matt Cassel for the starting spot. I think that Bridgewater was worth what the Vikings paid to get him and has the potential for great things! Below is a list of the rest of the Minnesota Vikings draft picks.

Round 1, Pick 9: Anthony Barr, OLB, UCLA

Round 1, Pick 32: Teddy Bridgewater, QB, Louisville

Round 3, Pick 72: Scott Crichton, DE, Oregon State

Round 3, Pick 96: Jerick McKinnon, RB, Georgia Southern

Round 5, Pick 145: David Yankey, OG, Stanford

Minnesota Vikings Draft 2014

Guess what, Minnesota Vikings fans?! It's NFL draft day! Which means the long, anxious wait is almost over for Rick Spielman and the Minnesota Vikings.

New head coach, Rick Spielman is on the clock in the first round of the NFL Draft. We know for a fact that Spielman has run through all the scenarios with his staff. He knows the options in play for their No. 8 pick.

Spielman says he has a good handle on what to expect with the first seven picks in Thursday's first round. We can't wait to see what moves Spielman makes for the Minnesota Vikings!

Christian Ponder of the Minnesota Vikings

One of my favorite Vikings players is number 7, Christian Ponder. He is the quarterback for the Minnesota Vikings and they love him to death.

Plus, he isn't bad to look at either. Go to a Vikings game to support Christian Ponder!

TCF Bank Field Renovations to get ready for the 2014 Vikings Season

We are already looking forward to the TCF Bank Field renovations and the 2014 Vikings season to begin and it's only April.

The Vikings NFL team will play at the University of Minnesota’s football field for the 2014 and 2015 seasons because their $1 billion "Multipurpose Stadium" is built on the site where the Metrodome used to be located. The Gophers will continue to play football at their stadium in the fall, but the Vikings play into December and (hopefully), January.

Other updates include increased storage space throughout the stadium, television platforms, heating in various areas, concessions upgrades on the concourses and temporary bleachers to accommodate 2,000 more fans!

Tom Johnson to Sign with the Vikings

Exciting roster updates for the Vikings!

We've just read online that former New Orleans Saints defensive lineman Tom Johnson at a physical today in Eden Prairie. He is about to sign a one-year, $845,000 deal that could pay him up to another $600,000 in incentives.

Not sure what this will do for the Vikings, but all I know is that the team could use some changes and this is the way to start!

Welcome to the Minnesota Vikings, Tom Johnson!
