Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions Preview

Adrian PetersonWell, this is the last game for the 2010 Minnesota Vikings. A season that began with great promise and optimism turned into one that will be ending early. However, a victory in Detroit can send the Vikings off with a 2 game winning streak and hopefully some momentum into getting Leslie Frazier the head coaching position. It has been a whirlwind of a season and definitely one that fans will not forget. I believe this time still has pieces in place to be competitive next season and get back on track. It may be a "meaningless" game by definition, but it could have some bearing on the future (is Joe Webb our potential quarterback of the future?). Get your Minnesota Vikings tickets at Ticket King!

Minnesota Vikings 24, Philadelphia Eagles 14

Joe WebbNot many people saw this one coming. The Minnesota Vikings took down the NFC East Champions Philadelphia Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field on Tuesday night. Rookie quarterback Joe Webb looked poised and impressive in his first career start. The defense blitzed early and often and put pressure on Michael Vick all night.

The Philadelphia Eagles got on the board first with a 3-yard Clay Harbor touchdown in the 1st quarter. After several dropped interceptions by the Minnesota Vikings, Antoine Winfield forced a fumble from Vick and took it 45 yards to pay dirt to tie the score. After a Ryan Longwell field goal in the 3rd, Joe Webb had a nifty 9 yard touchdown run that displayed his athleticism. He juked 3 Eagles players on his way to the endzone. Michael Vick would score on a 10 yard run in the 4th quarter but Adrian Peterson would respond with a 1 yard score to push it to 24-14.

The Minnesota Vikings moved to 6-9 and clinched a bye for the Chicago Bears. Leslie Frazier pushed his possibility of landing the head coaching job to highly likely after this victory. Joe Webb has now forced the Vikings to decide on whether he may be the future quarterback.

Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles Postponed for Tuesday

BlizzardIn a season filled with the most distractions imaginable, why not add one more to the reality television show? The Minnesota Vikings were slated to play against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday night. That game didn't happen. The game got rescheduled for Tuesday night instead, making it the first Tuesday game in 64 YEARS. The game was rescheduled due to a blizzard that ripped through the Philadelphia area. Sounds familiar, right? So, the game is delayed another day and will be played eventually tomorrow night. Just another bizarre occurrence in the 2010-2011 season.

Biggest Needs Leaving the 2010 Season

Could Cam Newton be wearing a Minnesota Vikings jersey next season? There is a lot to dissect with this franchise. We thought we were in all-in mode. We have a lot of soon to be free agents including Ray Edwards, Ben Leber, Chad Greenway, Pat Williams, Ryan Longwell, and Brett Favre. Here are thoughts for the Minnesota Vikings biggest needs for next season:

1) A quarterback - I think if we draft in the Top 15 range, we need to see where Jake Locker, Ryan Mallett, and Cam Newton fall.

2) A ball-hawking safety - Simply put, we have the worst safety combination in the league and it isn't even close. We desperately need a safety and fast.

3) A right guard - You could make a case for another cornerback because of Asher Allen's play, but I'll go with the assumption that Cedric Griffin will recover from his ACL injury and Chris Cook was still only a rookie this year. We need a right guard that we can rely on because it showed this year that we don't

A Bears Beatdown: Chicago Bears 40-14 Minnesota Vikings

TCF Bank StadiumThe final score read 40-14. It wasn't the Minnesota Vikings putting up 40 points. It was the Chicago Bears. I was at the game at TCF Bank Stadium in the cold and it didn't help with how the Minnesota Vikings played. It was a tough game that had a promising start with Percy Harvin's touchdown. The experience was awesome but the final result was not. Brett Favre was knocked out and rookie Joe Webb struggled. All around just a result I'd rather forget.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears at TCF Bank Stadium

The Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears are playing primetime for Monday Night Football. The two teams will battle at TCF Bank Stadium in Dinkytown, home of the Minnesota Gopher football team. I am looking forward to this game in every capacity. I mean, honestly, how cool is this matchup?

TCF Bank Stadium
There hasn't been an outdoor home game for the Minnesota Vikings since December 20, 1981. Rookie quarterback Joe Webb is making his first career start. Joe Webb has unlimited potential and Minnesota Vikings fans will get to see firsthand tonight if Webb can make some noise. Also, the Minnesota Vikings are honoring the Top 50 Minnesota Vikings of all-time.

So experts are saying it might be a little cold. Throw on some expected snow (possibly 4 to 5 inches) and this is a historic game for Minnesota Vikings fans. Outdoor football, Joe Webb's first start, playing with the elements, Monday Night Football, against the Chicago Bears, what is there not to like? Minnesota Vikings, Giants, Bears

The Minnesota Vikings lost in their second to last 'home' game of the season on Monday. The Giants, who had been waiting to play the game from an airport in Kansas City since Saturday, met the Vikings at Ford Field in Detroit and beat them 21-3.

The Giants defense held the Vikings offense to less than 200 yards and Jackson completed 50% of his passes as Brett Favre sat on the sidelines. Favre ended his consectutive-game streak at 297 by not starting Monday's game.

With the Metrodome currently out of commission, the Vikings are looking to play at TCF Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota Campus for their last home game of the 2010 season. This game is against the Chicago Bears, who are currently leading the Division.

Guess we will just sit here and twiddle our thumbs until the venue is finalized. No hurry.

Vikings Dome Field Advantage No More

You would have to be living under a rock if you haven't heard about the Metrodome roof collapse this weekend. What a complete bummer. The Minnesota Vikings only had two home games left this season and now we only have one (and that's even a maybe at this point). So much for Vikings home field advantage or Dome field advantage as I like to call it.

The Vikings will be rallying at Ford Field Detroit tonight to try and take down the NY Giants. I will be watching from my sofa since there was no chance I could drive or fly to Detroit today. The Vikings need a win desperately and after yesterdays low scoring Packers @ Lions game (3-7, Lions) there are plenty of points left on the field just waiting for the Vikings.

Be sure to cheer on the Vikings tonight...mathematically, there are still 2010 Vikings playoff hopes.

This is my favorite picture of the Metrodome roof collapse - it's from inside - they even have the Vikings vs Giants game programs all ready on the chair backs!

Showdown with the New York Giants

Eli ManningOn Sunday, the New York Giants will make their appearance at the Metrodome. The New York Giants were the Super Bowl Champions as short as 3 seasons ago when they knocked off the mighty New England Patriots. Eli Manning at the helm, with Brandon Jacobs and Ahmad Bradshaw at running back, and Steve Smith, Mario Manningham, and Hakeem Nicks at wide receiver make the New York Giants have a potent offense. The Minnesota Vikings manhandled the New York Giants last year and this year they hope will be the same. Stay tuned to see if Brett Favre and Percy Harvin will start.

Percy Harvin Questionable for New York Giants

Percy HarvinPercy Harvin missed last weekend's game against the Buffalo Bills with a migraine. He hasn't practiced this week and it makes him questionable against the New York Giants. The New York Giants come in at 8-4 and are battling the Philadelphia Eagles for the NFC East Division. They are led by quarterback Eli Manning, running back Ahmad Bradshaw, and wide reciever Steve Smith. Recently, the Minnesota Vikings have had the New York Giants number. Hopefully Percy can be ready to go.

Monday, December 6, 2010

Minnesota Vikings 38, Buffalo Bills 14

Tavaris JacksonThe Minnesota Vikings defeated the Buffalo Bills by a score of 38 to 14 on Sunday afternoon at the Metrodome. Brett Favre was injured on the 3rd play of the game and in stepped Tavaris Jackson. Jackson threw 2 touchdowns to Sidney Rice and finished 15 for 22 for 187 yards, plus two runs for 22 yards. He also threw 3 interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown. Adrian Peterson finished with 107 yards and 3 touchdowns. The Minnesota Vikings built a 38-7 lead in the game and didn't look back. We will see if Favre is ready to go next week against the New York Giants.

Friday, December 3, 2010

Will Adrian Peterson Be Ready To Go?

Adrian PetersonOne of the concerns this week is whether Adrian Peterson will be ready to go. He was injured last weekend in Washington and could miss his first start in some years. He did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday. He had a sprained right ankle and apparently some of the swelling has gone down. It looks like he may be a gametime decision. If he is not able to go, look for Toby Gerhart to get his first career start.

Buffalo Bills at Minnesota Vikings

Ryan Fitzpatrick and CJ SpillerOn Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings and Buffalo Bills will go toe-to-toe at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. The Buffalo Bills come in with a 2-9 record, so on paper, the Minnesota Vikings should win. However, there hasn't been any easy victories this season so nothing is gauranteed. The Buffalo Bills have some talented players in emerging wide receiver Steve Johnson, running backs CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson, and strong throwing quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. The Minnesota Vikings should be able to run on the Buffalo Bills - as they are last in the league in rushing yards. Prediction: Minnesota Vikings 30, Buffalo Bills 20.

Minnesota Vikings Defeat Washington Redskins 17-13

Leslie FrazierIn his first career game coaching, Leslie Frazier got on the winning board. It wasn't necessarily an exciting win, but it was a clean win. No turnovers, only 3 penalties, and didn't give up the big plays. Adrian Peterson scored in the 1st quarter but was later injured, missing the 2nd half. Toby Gerhart stepped in and ran for 76 yards and a touchdown. Hopefully this win can carry some momentum over for the next 3 games, which are all home games. Congratulations to Leslie Frazier!

Brad Childress Fired; Leslie Frazier Promoted

Brad ChildressWell, we knew this was coming. Brad Childress was relieved of his coaching duties on Monday afternoon. After the 31-3 embarrassment at home to the Green Bay Packers, I figured this move would be made. Here's how I feel: Are the players accountable? Absolutely - they're the ones on the field paid to play. However, you can't fire the players, only coaches. The coach was out of flavor with nearly all the fans and players. He was a stubborn guy in press conferences and came across arrogant. I'm glad to see him go and I hope Leslie Frazier can come in now and show his stuff. This is pretty much his audition if he wants to be a candidate for the head coaching job. In his 4 seasons here, Childress went 39-35 and 2 NFC North Titles. He was an overtime away from qualifying for the Super Bowl last season.

Monday, November 22, 2010

Ouch: Green Bay Packers 31, Minnesota Vikings 3

Brad ChildressThe Green Bay Packers defeated the Minnesota Vikings 31-3 at the Metrodome on Sunday afternoon. It was a humiliating defeat at the hands of the NFC North rival. The loss leaves the Vikings at 3-7 and virtually ends any playoff chances for the team. The crowd was hostile towards the end of the game and with good reason. The team was outplayed from the getgo and never established anything. It was an ugly loss and the head coach is walking on thin ice. There has been speculation for weeks that Brad Childress could be fired. Stay tuned.

Monday, November 15, 2010

Chicago Bears 27, Minnesota Vikings 13

Jay CutlerThe Minnesota Vikings left Soldier Field with another loss. The Minnesota Vikings were defeated 27-13 by the Chicago Bears on Sunday. They have now lost 9 straight road games going back to last season. The loss leaves the team 3-6 and in desperate need of a turnaround. It was a pivotal game that the Vikings needed. After the game, it was reported that owner Zygi Wilf will not consider firing Brad Childress. Time will tell if that is the case. The odds of making the playoffs are now slim. They would need to at least win the next 7 games or 6 of the last 7. Next week the Green Bay Packers come into town. Get your Minnesota Vikings tickets at Ticket King!

What a Crazy Minnesota Viking Week, Minnesota Vikings Defeat Arizona Cardinals in OT

Adrian PetersonWhat a week. Let's do a recap: Randy Moss gets released, sparking an outcry to fire Brad Childress across Minnesota Viking nation. Brad Childress gets in a verbal confrontation with Percy Harvin regarding his work ethic. Owner Zygi Wilf "reportedly" came close to firing head coach Brad Childress after putting Moss on waivers. Then "unnamed players" mentioned their rift with Childress. On Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Arizona Cardinals 27-24 in overtime. The Vikings came back and scored 14 points in the final 4 minutes to put the game into overtime. What a week.

Monday, November 1, 2010

New England Patriots 28, Minnesota Vikings 18

Tom BradyThe New England Patriots defeated the Minnesota Vikings 28-18 at Gillette Stadium on Sunday evening. Brett Favre started but got roughed up again, this time receiving 8 stitches underneath his chin. He played well however, going 22 of 32 for 259 yards. Adrian Peterson and Naufahu Tahi scored the touchdowns for Minnesota. The loss leaves the Minnesota Vikings 2-5 and now in a bad position to try to make the playoffs. They will need to win at least 7 of the next 9 to have a chance.

Will Brett Favre Start?

Brett Favre Brett Favre's ironman streak of 291 consecutive starts is in serious jeopardy. He has two fractures in his left foot and was wearing a walking boot earlier this week. He has now taken it off but the question looms - will he start or will Tavaris Jackson start? If Tavaris Jackson were to start it would snap the longest streak in NFL history of consecutive starts by Favre. Pay attention Vikings fans - history could be made on Sunday.

Monday, October 25, 2010

Green Bay Packers 28, Minnesota Vikings 24

Aaron RodgersThe Green Bay Packers defeated the Minnesota Vikings 28-24 on Sunday night at Lambeau Field. It was a tough game for Vikings fans as there were opportunities for a victory. Visanthe Shiancoe's overturned touchdown in the 2nd quarter hurt. It looked like he secured the ball and caught it cleanly, however the referees overuled the decision and said it was an incomplete pass. Another big call was a Randy Moss "offensive pass interference" in the 2nd quarter was a botched call. The Vikings had the ball on the Packers 10 yard line before they called a "personal foul face mask" penalty on Phil Loadholt to push the ball to the Packers 30 yard line. It was a bad night for officials. The loss leaves the Minnesota Vikings at 2-4.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers - The Reunion 2.0

Brett Favre walking off of Lambeau FieldThe Minnesota Vikings will travel to legendary Lambeau Field to take on the Green Bay Packers on Sunday night. It is a big matchup as the Vikings are 2-3 and the Packers are 3-3. It will mark the 2nd time that Brett Favre will travel to Lambeau Field as an opposing player. It isn't an easy place to play but I like the Vikings chances. I think we have a more complete team and think if we can pressure Aaron Rodgers we should win the game. I hope Jared Allen can start becoming that x-factor again and start roping some cattle. Prediction - Minnesota 27, Green Bay 20

Do you think they still remember that Brett Favre character??

Monday, October 18, 2010

Minnesota Vikings 24, Dallas Cowboys 21

Percy HarvinIt wasn't necessarily pretty but it's a victory the Minnesota Vikings will take. The Vikings defeated the Cowboys 24-21 in what was dubbed "The Desperation Bowl." Trailing 14-7, Percy Harvin brought some energy into the Metrodome when he returned a kickoff 95 yards to pay dirt. Adrian Peterson followed that up with a 1 yard touchdown run. A Dez Bryant 31 yard touchdown catch evened up the score but Ryan Longwell's 38 yard field goal with 4 minutes remaining put the game away. The Cowboys were guilty of 11 penalties and now put their season in jeopardy sitting at 1-4.

Brett Favre's Elbow Tendinitis

Brett FavreEarlier this week, Brett Favre stated he would sit a game this season if his elbow wasn't up to par. He has been experiencing elbow tendinitis and it gave him noticeable pain in last Monday's game. Favre has started 289 straight regular season games. It would be pretty big news if he snapped the streak, as it started nearly 20 years ago. He is listed as questionable right now for the game against the Dallas Cowboys, but if I'm a betting man, I say he plays.

Minnesota Vikings - Dallas Cowboys, Randy's Return

Randy MossThe Vikes and Boys are squaring off at the Metrodome this Sunday. Both teams are 1-3. Both teams need a victory badly. Both teams are expected to compete for a Super Bowl. Needless to say, this is a must win for the Vikings. The Vikings need to play as the agresser, like we did last season. It is Randy Moss's return to the Metrodome, in which he will probably get one of the loudest ovations ever given at the Dome. The Vikes need a win, and they need it badly. Let's take down the 'Boys. MNF: New York Jets vs. Minnesota Vikings

New York Jets Head Coach Rex RyanThe time has come. #84 has returned to deliver the Minnesota Vikings their first Super Bowl Championship. Randy Moss is making his Viking debut tonight against the New York Jets on Monday Night Football in the Meadowlands. It is the 2nd time in 3 weeks he is playing against the New York Jets. Another storyline involves Brett Favre playing against his old team. It seems like longer than just 2 years ago he was playing with the Jets but here he is squaring off against one of his former teams. The New York Jets were the team selected for HBO's "Hard Knocks" and have plenty of fanfare this season.

RANDY MOSS IS BACK TO MINNESOTA!!!!!

Randy MossHold the phone. Late last night rumors surfaced that Randy Moss, current wide receiver for the New England Patriots, could be headed to the Minnesota Vikings. I almost didn't believe it when I heard it. Check that - I indeed didn't believe it. I went to bed thinking about the possiblity of #84 coming back to Minneapolis. That dream just became a reality this morning when the two teams completed the deal sending Moss to Minnesota for a 3rd round pick. I'm speechless. Randy Moss is one of my all-time Twin Cities athletes to don a Minnesota uniform in any sport. He's back. I'm giddy about Brett Favre, Randy Moss, Adrian Peterson, Sidney Rice, Visanthe Shiancoe, Percy Harvin, and Bernard Berrian on offense. Oh My. Better yet - we got him for a 3rd round pick! What a steal for a guy who can still play the position as good as anyone in the league! #84, welcome back!!!

Vikes Take Bye Week

Minnesota VikingsThe Minnesota Vikings had a bye this weekend. The players got most of last week off and were able to take a short break and rest up. They will be back in Winter Park on Monday and prepare for next Monday's game against the New York Jets in the Meadowlands. It will be nationally televised and should make for a great game, as both teams are Super Bowl contenders. In NFC North news, the Green Bay Packers narrowly defeated the Detroit Lions 28-26 and the New York Giants beat the Chicago Bears 17-3. Current records: Green Bay 3-1, Chicago 3-1, Minnesota 1-2, Detroit 0-4.

Minnesota Vikings Defeat Detroit Lions 24-10

Adrian PetersonThe Minnesota Vikings defeated the Detroit Lions by a score of 24-10 on Sunday in the Metrodome. Scoring touchdowns were Percy Harvin and two by Adrian Peterson. The Detroit Lions got on the board first with a 5 yard Tony Scheffler touchdown. However, Minnesota would respond with a 24 yard touchdown pass to Percy Harvin with 57 seconds left in the 1st quarter. An 80 yard Adrian Peterson touchdown in the 4th quarter sealed the victory to make it a 14 point lead. For the game, Peterson rushed for 160 yards on 23 carries. Next week the Minnesota Vikings are on a bye.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions Preview

Calvin Johnson of the Detroit LionsThis Sunday at Mall of America Field, the Minnesota Vikings will square off against the inner-division foe Detroit Lions. Usually the Detroit Lions are a woeful bunch, having won 3 games total the last 2 seasons. However, this team feels a little different after the first 2 games. They were defeated by the Chicago Bears 19-14 in Chicago thanks to a overturned touchdown call with 19 seconds left that would have won them the game. A week later they lost to Michael Vick and the Philadelphia Eagles 35-32. Rookie running back Jahvid Best has had a tremendous start and Calvin Johnson is one of the most talented receivers in the league. The Minnesota Vikings will need to play solid for 4 quarters and earn the victory. Prediction: Minnesota 27, Detroit 17. Go Vikings!

Monday, September 20, 2010

Minnesota Vikings Lose 14-10 to Miami Dolphins

Adrian PetersonThe Minnesota Vikings lost 14-10 to the Miami Dolphins on Sunday afternoon. It was a deflating loss for the Minnesota Vikings, as they did not lose a home game all of last season. Brett Favre threw 3 interceptions (1 of which was not his fault) and had a costly fumble in the endzone that Miami pounced on for a touchdown. Adrian Peterson ran 28 times for 145 yards and a touchdown. The game was ultimately decided by a 4th and goal that Miami stuffed with 3 minutes to play. The Vikings handed off to Adrian but he couldn't get in the endzone. Next up is the Detroit Lions.

Friday, September 17, 2010

Will Minnesota Vikings Trade for Vincent Jackson?

Vincent JacksonThe Minnesota Vikings have been rumored to Vincent Jackson of the San Diego Chargers. He was suspended the first 6 games of the season but now if he was traded he would be eligible after week 4. Any team that makes a trade for him would almost have to surrender a 1st or 2nd round pick. Keep an eye if the Vikings make a move on the wide receiver in San Diego.

Minnesota Vikings vs. Miami Dolphins at the Metrodome

Miami DolphinsOn Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings will play the Miami Dolphins at the Metrodome in Minneapolis. It's the home opener for the Vikings and will be searching for their first victory of the season. The Miami Dolphins beat the Buffalo Bills last Sunday 15-10. At quarterback, the Miami Dolphins are starting Chad Henne, the old Michigan Wolverine. They will use Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams at running back and throw to Brandon Marshall at wide receiver. The Minnesota Vikings will have to get the passing game going this week, as the game in New Orleans showed the

Minnesota Vikings Fall to New Orleans Saints 14-9

Drew Brees, quarterback of the New Orleans SaintsThe Minnesota Vikings were defeated by the New Orleans Saints 14-9 in New Orleans, Louisiana last Thursday night. The game kicked off the 2010 NFL season and unfortunately did not go the Vikings way. Minnesota's lone touchdown came on Brett Favre's 20 yard touchdown pass to Visanthe Shiancoe that put the team ahead 9-7 going into halftime (extra point was blocked). The New Orleans Saints would score on Pierre Thomas's 1 yard touchdown run in the 3rd quarter and that would be the final. The Minnesota Vikings will host the Miami Dolphins this weekend for a 12pm game at the Metrodome.

Tuesday, September 7, 2010

Minnesota Vikings Defeat Denver Broncos 31-24

Tavaris Jackson Hands off to Albert YoungThe Minnesota Vikings defeated the Denver Broncos 31-24 in the final preseason game on Thursday night in the Metrodome. The Minnesota Vikings finished 3-1 and the Denver Broncos finished 1-3. For the game, Joe Webb threw for 100 yards and a touchdown, while also running 4 times for 48 yards. Erin Henderson had a 35 yard fumble return for a touchdown as well. Former Minnesota Gopher receiver Eric Decker had 10 catches for 114 yards for the Denver Broncos. With the preseason over, all sights are set on Thursday night against the New Orleans Saints for the NFL season kickoff. I think every Minnesota Viking fan will be paying attention on Thursday night.

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

Minnesota Vikings Trade for Greg Camarillo

Greg CamarilloLast week, the Minnesota Vikings traded cornerback Benny Sapp to the Miami Dolphins for wide receiver Greg Camarillo. Camarillo is a slot receiver that isn't a speed demon as much as he is a possession guy. He had zero drops last season, while catching 50 passes for 552 yards. He is a reliable receiver and a solid route runner. He will be the 3rd receiver behind Percy Harvin and Bernard Berrian while Sidney Rice is out with an injury. Benny Sapp was rumored to being on cut for the final roster - so we didn't exactly give up much. Asher Allen, Chris Cook, and Lito Sheppard were all ahead of him on the depth chart.

Monday, August 30, 2010

Minnesota Vikings Defeat Seattle Seahawks 24-13

Seattle SeahawksThe Minnesota Vikings defeated the Seattle Seahawks 24-13 on Saturday night at Mall of America Field. Brett Favre threw for 187 yards and newcomer Greg Camarillo had 4 catches for 47 yards. Although Favre had 3 turnovers (1 fumble in which McKinnie didn't move and another off of Berrian's hands) he looked pretty sharp in my opinion. Again, it's just a preseason game so we don't have to dwell too long on the game. Next up is the Denver Broncos on Thursday, September 2nd in the Metrodome.

Sidney Rice Has His Surgery, To Miss First Half of Season

Minnesota Viking wide receiver Sidney Rice has undergone hip surgery and will miss the first half of the season. The news is disappointing to Minnesota Vikings fans as Rice suffered the injury in the playoffs last season. After seeing specialists this offseason, it seems odd that Rice waited eight months to have the surgery instead of having it earlier.

Either way, it is a significant blow to the team. Rice had a breakout season last year, earning a Pro Bowl birth and notching 1,300 receiving yards. After Percy Harvin's migraines, we can only hope Rice comes back strong after the surgery. Bernard Berrian and Visanthe Shiancoe will have to be counted on (as well as newly signed Javon Walker).

Favre Takes 4 Snaps, San Francisco Wins 15-10

Brett FavreBrett Favre took 4 snaps in a 15-10 defeat to the San Francisco 49ers. His only pass attempt went to Adrian Peterson on a swing pass for a 13 yard gain. He was sacked on his 3rd snap by Patrick Willis that had a few Vikings fans holding their breath. Favre got up quickly and laughed, much to the fans delight. Joe Webb scored the only touchdown for the Minnesota Vikings, on a 48 yard sprint up the middle of the field. Webb can flat out run. The next preseason game is against the Seattle Seahawks at the Metrodome. Brett Favre will probably take more snaps and maybe play a whole half. EJ Henderson started on Sunday which is a great sign after that terrible injury last year.

BRETT FAVRE IS BACK

Minnesota Viking Quarterback Brett FavreRemember when Brett Favre "texted" teammates and claimed he was retiring? News outlets everywhere covered the rumor all day and some thought this was actually it for #4. I wasn't buying it.

Yesterday it became "official" that Brett Favre is back. After Ryan Longwell, Jared Allen, and Steve Hutchinson made a surprise Monday night visit to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, the 40-year old quarterback joined the players for a plane ride back to Minnesota. News channels filmed Brett walk out of the plane and into a black SUV. There has been no news conference yet but there is one planned for after practice.

Welcome back Brett! Can't wait for the season and the first game against the Saints! For any tickets to Minnesota Vikings games check out Vikings Tickets!

Minnesota Vikings defeat St. Louis Rams 28-7

Sage RosenfelsIn the first preseason game of the year, the Minnesota Vikings downed the St. Louis Rams 28-7 in St. Louis. Sage Rosenfels was the star of the night throwing for 310 yards and 3 touchdowns. Rookie quarterback looked good too in his limited time in the 4th quarter. Touchdowns went to Logan Payne, Garrett Mills, Marko Mitchell, and Mickey Shuler. After surrendering a long punt return to Danny Amendola for a 7-0 Rams lead, the Minnesota Vikings scored 28 consecutive points. The next game is against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, at San Fran.

Minnesota Vikings Training Camp Notes

EJ HendersonThe Minnesota Vikings Training Camp will be wrapping up tomorrow and the team will depart to St. Louis to take on the Rams on Saturday. Can't wait for the season to start! Here are some notes about training camp so far:

- Sidney Rice is not activated yet due to a hip injury
- Percy Harvin has been absent due to Grandmother's funeral and migraines
- Brett Favre is still in Mississippi
- Tavaris Jackson has been taking most of the reps with the 1st team
- Chris Cook has looked great
- Adrian Peterson is using a heavier football to reduce fumbles
- Toby Gerhart is adjusting to the pace of the NFL
- EJ Henderson has come back magnificently so far from the leg injury

Brett Favre Rollercoaster

RollercoasterImmediately after Brett Favre reportedly "retired", reports surfaced that he would play if healthy and is still undecided. By now, most football fans were ready for the Brett Favre saga. I still believe he will be the Minnesota Vikings quarterback by the first game. It feels like Favre is playing a prank on the media and ESPN...did he really send those text messages? Did he really tell Vikings personnel "This is it"? Even though Brett Favre has trouble making up his mind (or perhaps he already has - as I think so), I think most Vikings fans are okay with him missing training camp, arriving late, and still being ready for the opener. Just look at last year. The guy can still play and gives the Minnesota Vikings their best chance at a Super Bowl title.

Say It Ain't So: Brett Favre "Reportedly" Retires

Brett Favre walking off the fieldWell, if you turned on the TV yesterday or were on the internet, chances are you saw something about Brett Favre. Yesterday morning, reports surfaced that Brett Favre "reportedly" plans on retiring. It was reported that he texted several teammates saying "This is it" and started contacting some Minnesota Viking personnel. Of course, there was no official press conference or any official statement from Brett Favre yet. The coverage lasted all day on ESPN about Brett's decision.

The real question is whether this retirement will be permanent or not. The last 2 offseasons featured retirement plans and then subsequently unretiring to play. As Minnesota Vikings fans, we realize that the team is ready for a Super Bowl because of all the talent around the quarterback. While Brett Favre has "reportedly retired", I still think there is a chance that he will play by the time the New Orleans Saints game arrives. If not, Tavaris Jackson will most likely become the new starting quarterback. Will this actually be his ride into the sunset? Time will tell.

Minnesota Vikings Training Camp Starts!

Jared AllenIf you're a Minnesota Viking fan then you realize Mankato is the place to be right now. Training Camp for the Minnesota Vikings started last Friday and will continue until the 1st preseason game on August 14th. Although there's no sign of Brett Favre yet, the buzz around camp is still very strong as the expectations for the team is very high after the successful season last year. Adrian Peterson, Sidney Rice, Jared Allen, Chad Greenway, Antoine Winfield, Steve Hutchinson, Percy Harvin, Kevin Williams, Pat Williams, EJ Henderson, and the gang is all there working hard to accomplish their goal of a Super Bowl title.

Brett Favre Update

Brett Favre Unfortunately, nothing really "new" to report on the Brett Favre update. Coach Brad Childress stated after visiting Favre, "I don't know what he will do." That seems to be the common theme, that Brett Favre is still unsure. He mentioned it after the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles earlier this month too that he was still undecided. The hope among Minnesota Vikings fans is that Brett Favre will sit out training camp but be ready in time for some of the preseason games and the start of the regular season. Head Coach Brad Childress visits Brett Favre

Head Coach Brad Childress with Brett Favre last seasonMinnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress visited Hattiesburg, Mississippi earlier this week to meet with quarterback Brett Favre. Although it's been reported that there wasn't a deadline discussed, it has to be assumed that they talked about Brett Favre's return. Favre still is sticking with the story that he's unsure about what he will do. Most Viking fans believe Brett Favre holds out just so he doesn't have to attend training camp, like last season. Hopefully he can make an announcement earlier this year, but if not Minnesota Vikings fans are ready for him after training camp again.

Brett Favre Not Concerned With Health

Brett Favre Throwing a Pass Brett Favre gave an interview recently to Men's Journal Magazine. In the interview he told them, "Playing another year probably isn't going to make a difference. The damage has already been done." This implies that his ankle/shoulder status would not be restraining him to return for his 20th season. He spoke of how sometimes he would be wondering why he was still playing football and how it became work but that "Last year it went back to being a game." Last night, Brett Favre won an ESPY Award in Los Angeles for "Best Play" when he threw the last second touchdown pass to Greg Lewis to defeat the San Francisco 49ers.

Sidney Rice Has Hip Injury, Should Be Ready By Season

Star Wide Receiver Sidney Rice
Star Minnesota Viking wide receiver Sidney Rice has revealed he has a lingering hip injury. The Star Tribune has reported Sidney Rice has a hip injury that has been bothering him from last season. Sidney Rice's agent Drew Rosenhaus reported on Twitter that Rice does indeed have a hip injury after rumors speculated that Rice needed surgery. However, Rosenhaus believes the injury won't require surgery and he's hopeful Sidney Rice will be ready at the start of camp and the regular season. Last season, Sidney Rice had 83 receptions, 1,312 yards, and 8 touchdowns, earning a Pro Bowl birth. Hopefully we will see Rice back in form during the preseason.
