100 Days Until the NFL Season Begins!

This Vikings blogger woke up and checked her Twitter right away, like any normal person. And I saw the most exciting news ever! The NFL season begins in exactly 100 days. That's only about 3 months. Personally, I've never been more excited to see what the Vikings can do this season. They will be playing with their hearts, for the last season, in the Metrodome in Minneapolis.

Vikings New Stadium Labeled as "Iconic"

I was just doing some online reading of other Vikings bloggers in the Twin Cities and I come across something interesting. One blogger, who will remain unnamed, said that the new Vikings stadium will be an iconic addition to the Minneapolis skyline. At first I was like, iconic?! No way!

Yes, I think the new stadium will be beautiful, but I would never pick the word iconic to describe a modern, glass stadium. Marilyn Monroe is iconic, the White house is iconic.

Then, I started thinking about it again. And this glass structure is going to be iconic. It will be treasured, last a long time, and add so much more to our Minneapolis skyline than that blow up Metrodome ever did. We can't wait to hear more!

New Vikings Stadium

VIKINGS FANS! We have been waiting for this day for years.. or at least since the Metrodome collapsed with snow last winter! The new Vikings stadium has been announced, and we have all the details for you. The main thing I came away after doing research is: glass. The roof will not open and close, however half of it will be see-through. There will be five (yes, five) 95 foot high retractable doors on the west side that will open to connect the building to a public plaza and that will highlight views of the downtown Minneapolis skyline. Pretty! Most of the walls will be glass and with "most of the rest of the exterior covered by a zinc material that architects say will change color in different light".

I don't know how I feel about the whole Vikings Stadium because they are using $500 million in public money for the stadium. And this stadium is apparently going to cost $975 total. It will be interesting to see who pulls through to cover the rest of the cost. Can you envision a Target Stadium? My boss thinks Anderson Windows should pull through because most of the stadium is glass, of course. We will keep you updated with any changes and news! The team hopes to begin play in the new stadium by the 2016 season.

2013 Vikings Home Opener Preview

Even though I'm not too big of a football fan, I am so excited for the Vikings home opener! Apparently, the schedule-makers didn't do the Vikings too many favors with giving them back-to-back division games on the road to open our season. However, because of our Week 4 London game in the mix and schedule rules associated with that arrangement there’s really not much the NFL could do, so we can be a little understanding.  It really gives us something more to look forward to. And week 3 will for sure be great with the Minnesota Vikings hosting the Cleveland Browns at the Mall of America Field. Who could miss Adrian Peterson vs. Trent Richardson on the field? Make it out to a game! Check out Ticketkingonline.com for some great selection and prices of tickets.
