Vikings Lions Rivalry

The Lions-Vikings rivalry is a rivalry between the Detroit Lions and Minnesota Vikings. The Lions and Vikings have been battling since the Vikings entered the league in 1961. Minnesota has dominated the series; however, Detroit has given the Vikings, a usual contender for the NFL playoffs, many close games over the years.

Although the Vikings have dominated the rivalry, Lions fans claim to cause the Vikings more trouble than the other NFC North sides Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers. Detroit are currently on a three game winning streak their second longest ever against the Vikings. The Lions have won both games that have gone to overtime between the pair in 2007 and 2011.

Viking's vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers Thursday Game

Apparently, traveling all the way to cold Minnesota to play on Thursday night was supposed to be tough for Tampa Bay......

Well, in the game I saw, rookie Doug Martin ran around the field as if he didn't want to leave.
Martin racked up 214 total yards -- including a career-high 135 rushing -- and two touchdowns, and the Buccaneers romped to a 36-17 victory to hand the Vikings their first home loss this season.

And let's just say, fans were disappointed. However, Adrian Peterson had a season-long 64-yard run for a score that brought the Vikings to 30-17, but THEN his lost fumble in Minnesota territory in the second quarter led directly to a touchdown by the Buccaneers (3-4). Typical.....

Let's see how the Vikes can fare on Sunday against the Seahawks.

What's Next for the Vikings? Game Against Redskins 10/14/12

Let's see here......

Last week against the Titans was a statement game for the Vikings. Sometime, we see that good teams beat inferior opponents (decisively) at home. Something the Vikings have had trouble doing in the past, but things are looking positive!

This Vikings vixen is proud of the way the guys played and I am looking forward to keeping this dream season rolling at Washington!

One more wish... Let's see if the Vikings can keep their foot on the gas, they are starting to show some promise.

Vikings Win Over Tennessee Titans

Final Score: Minnesota 30, Tennessee 7. That looks good doesn't it??

Percy Harvin caught eight passes for 108 yards and a touchdown to help lead the Vikes to victory this Sunday,

Christian Ponder went 25-for-35 through the air for 258 yards and two touchdowns and Adrian Peterson carried the ball 17 times for 88 yards for the Vikings, who are 4-).

Did you know that the Vikings have already surpassed their win total from 2011? This surprises me, but makes me happy!

"We're just trying to have fun and play football," Vikings linebacker Chad Greenway said of his team's start. "It's just like the opposite of last year."

We can't wait to see what next week brings!

Up Next for the Vikes: Titans at the Metrodome

It's gonna be a fun Sunday, Vikings fans!

With Christian Ponder doing his usual thing and Adrian Peterson dominating as usual, Minnesota has won back-to-back games against potential playoff teams in the San Francisco 49ers and Detroit Lions to move to 3-1 on the season! Woo!

While the Titans haven't had the easiest schedule - they've played New England, San Diego, and Houston - they've lost those games by a combined 73 points, leaving them 1-3 against the spread thus far on the season.

It should be a great game!

Don't forget to tune in and keep up with your Vikes!

Vikings On Fire Against the Lions!

Well, they did it again. Your Minnesota Vikings beat the Detroit Lions last Sunday, September 30th, and this blogger could not be more pleased.

The Minnesota Vikings got a kickoff return and punt return for touchdowns as the team play with a 20-13 win over Detroit at Ford Field.

Your favorite star, Percy Harvin, scored on the opening kickoff and Marcus Sherels returned the first punt of the second half for a touchdown as the Vikings (3-1) snapped an 11-game losing streak in the division.

The last win in the NFC North for the team was a home victory against Detroit on Sept. 26, 2010.
Adrian Peterson had 21 carries for 102 yards and added four catches for 20 yards while Christian Ponder went 16-for-26 with 111 yards for the Vikings, who have matched their win total from last season.

Already?

Go Vikes!

Are these Vikings for Real?

Can somebody please pinch me? I think every Viking fan needs to be sure that the Vikings’ victory over the 49ers wasn’t just a figment of their interesting imagination.

The 49ers used their final timeout to stop the clock, and then, they proceeded to also challenge the play, which should not have been allowed as they were out of timeouts.

I would like to compare these ref's to the ones of the Packer Seahawks game last night......

Anyone else?

What's up next for our Minnesota Vikings? An away game against the Lions at Ford Field this Sunday at 12.

Go Vikes!

Vikings 49ers Game Review

The 49ers, who are 2-1, opened their season by deflating two of the NFL's most prolific aerial attacks, those led by the Green Bay Packers' Aaron Rodgers and the Detroit Lions' Matthew Stafford. So what happened with the Vikings? "I don't think they've really played a team that's committed to running the ball like we'll be," Adrian Peterson said on a conference call with Bay Area media.

Vikings 49ers Recap:

The Minnesota Vikings pulled off an upset victory over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday, winning by a final score of 24-13.
We watched the Vikings get off to a great start. They dominated the first half on both sides of the ball to take a 17-3 halftime lead. Fans were going crazy!
Then, San Francisco responded in the third quarter, scoring 10 unanswered points to change Minnesota's advantage to 17-13. But the Vikings quickly put up another touchdown just seconds into the fourth quarter, effectively winning the game.

49ers quarterback Alex Smith threw his first interception of the season but then later fumbled in the last minutes of the game, as San Francisco attempted to make a late comeback following multiple fumbles by running back Toby Gerhart. Better luck next time, 49ers.

SKOL VIKINGS

Hey MN Vikings Fans!

Remember the first pre-season game of the year? Against the 49ers? And that brutal loss at Candlestick park, 7-20. Ughh.

Well, now that the Vikings have gotten some wins under their belt, let's see the 49ers go down at Mall of America Field.

Check out cheap tickets here.

Maybe you could wear this outfit?

I Love Me Some Vikings (Sorta)

I'm a home grown Minnesotan. I love laying out on one of 10,000+ lakes, hot dish, attending the MN State Fair, going to the Mall of America, and (yup) shoveling snow.

So, I should be proud of all my Minnesotan sports teams. And I am! I have been playing hockey since age three when my Dad taught me how to skate on the pond in our backyard. My parents have season tickets to the Wild (they are freaking out about the NHL Lock Out). Summer Twins games at Target Field are probably the best things about the summer. Getting drunk and going to Timberwolves for super cheap is a great college activity.

But I just don't really enjoy football, to be real.

I moved in with five new girls this summer. And let me tell you, they are all the biggest football freaks I have ever met.

So last Sunday, they all sat down in front of the TV to watch the Vikings game, and the the TV is right by my bedroom so I had to participate. Plus they ordered Toppers Sticks and had Bud Light Lime, which is my food and drink of choice, obvi.

And as I sat in this group of swearing, angry, and passionate fans, I loved it! All of the emotions, activity, and high-strungness of it made watching football so fun!

Even I could tell that the Colts are horrible football players.

So, to sum it up, this is why I am not a true Vikings fan. Because I like teams who WIN! :)

This girl is me when I watch football...................

"We're Vikings, NOT Barbarians"

Remember a last week I had a blog post about fans going crazy at the Vikings first pre-season game? If you missed it, check it out here!

Anyways, I went to the game last Friday (got to sit in the Legends club with a buffet that INCLUDED an ice cream buffet, it's fine), and saw an article in the programs that basically said this: we are Vikings, not Barbarians. Then went on to list some examples of things Vikings fans should not do, which clearly said throwing items of any kind.

But, people behaved themselves, and it was a fun game!

Keep checking this blog for all your fun Vikings news!

Vikings Season in Review

The Minnesota Vikings 2011 season had many many moments to remember. From Percy Harvin's game-opening kickoff return touchdown during week 1 (literally) to the NFL single-season sack record that Jared Allen was perusing all the way through Week 17, how could we forget any of that? And when Christian Ponder got his first win on the road during week 8. And how Adrian Peterson just kept breaking more and more and more records.

Let's make it another memorable season, Vikes!

Vikings Fans Gone Crazy

Last Friday was the first preseason Vikings game, and let's just say things got a little crazy! With seats so cheap, lots of interesting characters attended the game and got a little rowdy.

During the wave, fans threw their ripped up programs in the air, creating a confetti, that was super dangerous if slipped on, not to mention awful to clean up.

Check out this video of Vikings fans throwing programs during the wave!

Vikings Tailgating Info

Hey Vikings fans!

We are off to a great Vikings season with their preseason 17-7 win against the New York Buffalo Bills this past Friday night. Check out this awesome article for the do's and don't of tailgating before Vikings games, directions to the parking lot, and other great information.

Apparently, the Vikes aren't going to play Adrian Peterson in any of the pre-season games, and instead let him rest up for the regular season games. Smart idea.

Vikings Player Adrian Peterson is Back!

On Monday, we got news that Vikings coach Leslie Frazier took Adrian Peterson off of the physically-unable-to-preform list on Sunday.

Here are Peterson's comments on his quick recovery and return to radio station KFAN in Minneapolis:

"People are different. People heal differently, people bounce back and recover differently from different injuries. And it's just one of those cases where I've just been working hard, been blessed and God's been covering me. And I just came back quicker than normal. So it's hard for people to kind of fathom that and believe that, but it is what it is. So I don't worry about that -- I just keep my mind stuck on my vision and my goals, and everything else will work itself out."

Now, let's see if he's going to play tomorrow, or if we're gonna have to wait to see this superstar in a game.

Take it easy, Adrian!

Friday: Vikings Preseason Begins

Hello dear readers!

Doesn't it seem a bit odd that football, the typical sport associated with fall, is starting tomorrow? As excited I am for the game and to see how the whole Adrian Peterson debacle plays out, the time of this game kinda makes me wanna barf.

Why? Because it just shows me how much closer we are to school. Bleh.

Still don't have your tickets? Here is where I got mine! Super cheap!

Vikings Coach Leslie Frazier

Here's what coach Leslie Frazier said when he was asked if he enjoys a training camp that is free of drama and controversy:

"Yes, I sleep a whole lot better at night, no question about it."

This is SO surprising. Way to play nice, Vikes.

Vikings Scuffle!

After 11 days of practicing, not too much team drama has occurred for your Minnesota Vikings.

However, your very own star receiver, Percy Harvin and newbie Harrison Smith (who has the reputation of not taking crap from anyone), got into some kind of shoving "episode" during an 11 v 11 team drill yesterday. Oh no! Not already, Vikes.

It all started when Harvin caught a pass and turned into a bunch of defenders. Smith became the third man to reach in and tug on the football and Harvin, of course, lost his temper and the two began to push and shove.

But, no hard feelings. "It's football. That stuff happens sometimes when you play football" said Smith about the scuffle.

Okay boys, play nice now.

Vikings Training Camp Notes on Adrian Peterson

Here the Minnesota Vikings are in Mankato, MN, training their butts off before pre-season games. The Vikings will be going to San Francisco on Thursday, but favorite player Adrian Peterson will be staying behind, hoping that if he stays a few extra days (3 to be exact), he will convince his team that his left knee, which has been through a surgery to repair his anterior cruciate ligament, can withstand ANYTHING. He said, "I'm definitely getting better". Okay big boy.

Peterson keeps pushing coach Leslie Frazier to take him off the physically-unable-to-preform list (PUP: cute).

Let's see if he's ready for a preseason game!

Vikings vs Packers Tickets

One of the biggest rivalry's football has seen is between our Vikings and the Packers. People from the good ol' Midwest are either a Packers fan or a Vikings fan; there's not much debate about it. I even grew up with nonfootball fans for parents, and I was trained to hate the Packers. Sorry about it.

Obviously, when the two teams play each other, things get pretty intense! Tickets actually went on sale today at 9 am, part of the single game ticket sale.

This is where I got my tickets, take a look!

Gov. Dayton Defends Adrian Peterson

"Idle time is the devil's play."

That would be Gov. Dayton's theory on why so many NFL players, Adrian Peterson in particular, have been under the scrutiny of the law lately.

Peterson faces a misdemeanor charge of resisting arrest after a confrontation with an off-duty police officer at a nightclub. Peterson's next court date is August 6.

Gov. Dayton attributes the large number of NFL misconducts to being off about half of the year - much more than other professional athletes.

Dayton went on to comment that an off-duty police officer with no visual identification dressed in plainclothes should not necessarily expect to be treated like an officer of the law.

Gov. Dayton apologizes for Vikings Comment

Our very own governor of St. Paul, Mark Dayton, made a comment about the Vikings earlier this week, on Tuesday, where he said "idle hands are the devil's play", comparing their painful efforts to military veterans.

More specifically, the governor had said that football is "basically slightly civilized war, and then they take that into society, much as solders come back, and they’ve been in combat or the edge of it and then suddenly that adjustment back to civilian life is a real challenge." On a public radio show.

Oops.

Yeah, maybe we can agree with that, but gosh Mr. Dayton, don't publicly bash your own team!

At least he apologized!.... after his comments made national sports news. Yeah okay, thanks Mark. On Thursday, he said his comparison between football players and military veterans was wrong and inappropriate.

He apologized saying, “Some of the psychological dynamics may be similar; however, I, in no way, meant to compare their challenges with the traumas and hardships experienced by the heroes who fought in places like Iraq and Afghanistan. While I am a football fan, I reserve my highest respect and admiration for those courageous Americans in uniform, who risk their lives to keep us safe and to make the world more free."

I'm glad he apologized because Dayton has spent a whole lotta political capital on winning the Vikings a new stadium this year! Tax payers money woo!

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton as he rallied for a new Vikings stadium
Hey cutie nice jersey.

Adrian Peterson Arrested in Houston

You hardly ever hear great things in the off season when it comes to the Minnesota Vikings...

Adrian Peterson was arrested in Houston, Texas early Saturday morning after an incident with police. Police say it took three hours to subdue him. Duh. He is the best running back in the league. He is never subdued.

he 27-year-old was finally handcuffed with the help of a third officer.

While Peterson contests that reports are false and that the truth will come out in time. Peterson hired Rusty Hardin to represent him after being charged with resisting arrest Saturday.

Percy Harvin Requests Trade

It appears that Percy Harvin is still a jerk.

He has requested a trade from the Minnesota Vikings, which is, from what I understand, not the first time.

I seriously doubt the Vikings are willing to trade away Harvin since the Vikes aren't particularly deep at wide receiver. Harvin knows this. So why make the fans hate you?

Minnesota winters are brutal enough without having every fan in the state giving you the cold shoulder. Harvin is going to have to buck up and settle in with the Vikings. He can do that with everyone eventually forgetting his little lapse of love or he can do that in front of a screaming crowd calling for his removal from the field.

Remember all those 'Fire Childress' chants and posters? Yea, we are those fans.

Get your act together, Harvin. For your own good.

Adrian Peterson No. 8 in Players Poll

Our very own AP was the highest-ranked back among the most-represented offensive position in the year's NFL Top 100 players poll.

The honor comes after a season in which he didn't quite reach the 1000-yard mark for the first time in his five-year career. Peterson was limited to 12 games in the 2011-12 season.

Peterson was ranked No. 3 in the poll last year.

Known for his unwavering and intense work ethic, Peterson is on pace to return for the 2012 season opener on September 9 after knee surgery in December.

Congratulations to Adrian Peterson! Way to represent the Minnesota Vikings in a positive light!

Vikings' Jerome Simpson Suspended

The NFL has suspended Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jerome Simpson for the first three games of the 2012 season, punishing him for a felony drug conviction tied to a marijuana shipment to his home last fall.

The Vikings are especially good at picking up gentlemen. That's for sure.

Buy hey, who cares, right? They are here to play football, not to be the 'boys next door'.

Metrodome Photos

I recently went around Minneapolis, St. Paul and a few of the surrounding suburbs to take photos of all the great venues! I took pictures of 24 total venues.

I just realized my Metrodome shots aren't all that great. I need to snap some of the plaza! I'm going back tomorrow to get some better ones. Until then, enjoy!

Percy Harvin Missing OTAs

Percy Harvin made an appearance at the organized team activities, but has yet to participate.

Recall, Harvin is recovering from a minor shoulder surgery he had on April 24. The surgery's purpose was to clean out bone spurs. Harvin isn't expected to miss much time.

Also missing from OTA participation is another Vikings' star, Adrian Peterson. AP is still rehabbing from his torn ACL.

Vikings ball is right around the corner. Don't miss your chance to score some great tickets!
