Let's Go Pittsburgh Steelers

Ben RoethlisbergerAs a Vikings fan, it's hard not to notice that the Green Bay Packers happen to be in the Super Bowl. Before the season, many of us fans felt we had a legitimate shot at the coveted prize. Well, things did not turn out the way we were hoping. The Minnesota Vikings are now at home while the Green Bay Packers continue to play. It's a hard reality but one that is true. The Packers are up against the Pittsburgh Steelers, who continue to show the NFL that they are the cream of the crop as a franchise. I am rooting for Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers, most likely out of jealousy that the Green Bay Packers are in the Super Bowl.

NFC Wins Pro Bowl 55-41

Adrian PetersonThe NFC defeated the AFC in the 2010-2011 Pro Bowl by a score of 55-41. They held a 42-0 in the 2nd quarter. Adrian Peterson now holds the record for most career rushing touchdowns in Pro Bowl history with four. He rushed 14 times for 80 yards and a touchdown. Antoine Winfield got an interception in the 2nd quarter for the NFC. The NFC had 5 interceptions total. Fellow Viking EJ Henderson arrived to Hawaii as a late addition and I did not see his name on the stat sheet. Congratulations to the NFC for their victory and Peterson owning the new record!

EJ Henderson Added To Pro Bowl Squad

EJ HendersonEJ Henderson has been named to the NFL Pro Bowl that will be played in Hawaii this weekend. He is an injury replacement and joins Adrian Peterson and Antoine Winfield in Honolulu (Kevin Williams was also named a Pro Bowler but is expecting a child with his wife). I'm very happy for EJ and believe his journey really has come full circle after breaking his leg last season against the Arizona Cardinals. I'm glad he finally got a little recognition from the league.

Meet the New Minnesota Vikings Coaching Staff

Bill Musgrave, the new Offensive Coordinator Leslie Frazier is introducing a new coaching staff for the Minnesota Vikings. Here is the new staff thus far:

Fred Pagac is the new defensive coordinator.
Mike Priefer is the Vikings new special teams coordinator.
Bill Musgrave is coming over from Atlanta to be the offensive coordinator,
Mike Singletary has been officially announced as the linebackers coach and the "special assistant to the head coach."
Craig Johnson is the new quarterbacks coach.
Jeff Davidson to the staff as their new offensive line coach.

Here you have it, 6 new coaches coming to Minnesota so far. I approve of these hirings so far and believe Leslie Frazier is adding some nice pieces together.

Is This the Year Cris Carter Finally Gets In the Hall of Fame?

Cris CarterThe National Football League has released the list of 17 finalists who will be voted on for the next Hall of Fame class, and there are two players who played a majority of their career with the Minnesota Vikings. One is wide receiver Cris Carter and the other is defensive end Chris Doleman. In my opinion, Cris Carter should already be in the Hall of Fame. He retired being in 2nd in virtually every receiving category. Chris Doleman has an outside chance at the Hall, currently 4th in sacks all-time. I think he deserves it. The other finalists that I think have a good shot: Marshall Faulk,

Can the Minnesota Vikings Get a New Stadium?

New Minnesota Vikings Stadium? The big issue for the Minnesota Vikings is a new stadium. We need to agree on a new stadium or owner Zygi Wilf may pursue other options. There has been much to debate on a new stadium including location (anywhere from Arden Hills, Blaine, etc), roof or no roof, and cost. According to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal, Minnesota Vikings officials say the team is willing to pay about one-third of the cost of a new stadium, not including the costs of a roof. I personally feel the team wants a roof, as it is then more valuable to the state to host other events, and that this then leaves wiggle room in negotiations. What are your thoughts on the new stadium debate!

Brett Favre Retires

Brett FavreThe season is over for Minnesota Vikings fans. The NFL playoffs is underway but since we are on the outside looking in, it doesn't feel the same. Most of us felt that we would have been in the thick of the race heading into this season. Unfortunately, we never gathered any momentum and had so many off the field distractions. One thing I'd like to say is an honorary congratulations to Brett Favre if he has indeed played for the last time. I know fans didn't view it the same since he has "retired" pretty much 3 or 4 times before, but I feel like the ship has finally sailed. If the on the field stuff didn't get Brett to retire, the off the field issues surely did. It wasn't the way I'm sure he would have liked to gone out. Great career Brett and see you in the Hall of Fame.

With the #12 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings Select.....

Blaine GabbertThe Minnesota Vikings finished the 2010 NFL season with a 6-10 record. It was an extremely disappointing season after returning 22 starters from last year's team. With the 6-10 record, the Minnesota Vikings are home to the number 12 pick in the 2011 NFL Draft. It could be a very important pick for the franchise and they may land their hopeful future quarterback. Here are my candidates for the number 12 pick:

1) Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri - He is shooting up mock draft boards, and unfortunately, may be gone by the time the team picks
2) Jake Locker, QB, Washington - He was considered a Top 10 pick last season if he declared and personally, I'm still high on him
3) Ryan Mallett, QB, Arkansas - Big kid with a huge arm. He isn't mobile however with his 6'7 frame

4) Cam Newton, QB, Auburn - He has all the tools, can it translate in the NFL?

Josh McDaniels and Mike Singletary Headed to Minnesota?

Josh McDanielsAccording to ESPN, former Denver Broncos head coach Josh McDaniels and San Francisco 49ers head coach Mike Singletary may be headed to the Minnesota Vikings. Both have interviewed this past week and have a good chance of being hired. McDaniels has interviewed for the Offensive Coordinator position while Singletary has interviewed for the Linebackers Coach. Singletary and Leslie Frazier were both teammates on the Chicago Bears. I think it would be a great move if we were able to hire both of these candidates.

Leslie Frazier Officially Named Head Coach

Leslie FrazierLeslie Frazier has been named the new head coach of the Minnesota Vikings. Leslie Frazier took over after Brad Childress was fired as head coach and went 3-3 as an interim coach. I, for one, approve of this move. Leslie Frazier seems like a person that has earned everything that he has got. He played cornerback for the Chicago Bears from 1981 to 1985 and won a Super Bowl with the team in 1985. His career was cut short due to a knee injury. I am happy for Leslie Frazier and wish him the best of luck!
