Vikings Giants Game HUGE

So much for resting our star Vikings players at the end of the season. I remember thinking about 7 weeks ago that this Vikings Giants game wasn’t going to mean much… so I didn’t want to buy tickets for it, but NOW – I want to go so badly! You can still get Minnesota Vikings Tickets, but I can't afford them now. UGH!

The Vikings absolutely need to win to get a bye in the first round, but that’s not all – we have to scoreboard watch (which I hate!) because the Philadelphia Eagles have to lose (please Cowboys win). It is going to be an interesting football weekend and I can't wait!

I love knowing all the players at the table, but it’s killing me that we don’t know what order they sit in. I can’t believe it is coming down to the last regular season games to figure it all out. I guess that’s why I love NFL football so much – the suspense and all of the NFC Playoff Scenarios running through my head!

For example:

Jan 9-10
Arizona vs. Philadelphia (winner Philly)
Green Bay vs. Dallas (winner Pack)

Jan 16-17
Packers at New Orleans (winner Packers)
Philadelphia at Minnesota (winner Minnesota)

Jan 24 NFC Championship
Packers at Vikings in the “Ultimate Brett Favre Showdown”

Time will tell how close my predictions really are!

College Bowl Game Wanderlust for a Depressed Vikings Fan

After the depressing Vikings Bears game last night, I am feeling like I need to make big New Years plans to cheer myself up. I would love to fly to the Gophers Insight Bowl game in Arizona on December 31st – it’s going to be a fun Midwestern rival game and I love to support my hometown Gopher football team.

But, I wouldn’t mind being at the Gator Bowl either this year. #1 It’s in Jackonsville, Florida – gotta be warmer than here. #2 It’s legendary Bobby Bowdens last game. He has coached 34 seasons for the Florida Seminoles and it will be sad to see him go. He is definitely a college football coaching legend and I have tons of respect for him…can’t say that about Brad Childress, that’s for sure. There are still some Florida Seminoles Tickets left for the game, I wonder what a plane ticket to Jacksonville would cost me?

Gotta love college bowl games!

Minnesota Vikings play Chicago Bears TONIGHT!!

The Minnesota Vikings are taking on the Chicago Bears Tonight at Soldier Field Stadium... What is riding on tonight's game? LOTS.

#1) Minnesota Vikings Pride... My boys are good, I know it, You know it... but the rest of the NFL needs to know it. The Minnesota Vikings have had a great season, no one would deny it. However, Minnesota Vikings Haters are saying that a lot of the Vikings Wins have been handed to them and we have not deserved them. The Minnesota Vikings roster needs to use tonight to prove that we have earned the ranking we have.

#2) This is Rivalry Game.... The Minnesota Vikings - Chicago Bears Rivalry is longstanding and deep seated. Although, it is nothing in comparison to the the Vikings-Packers rivalry the Bears-Vikings Game is always a Midwest Favorite. With both cities being so close there is always a larger presence from both the Minnesota Vikings Fan base and the Chicago Bears Fan Base

#3) If the Minnesota Vikings win tonight and next week and the New Orleans Saints lose next week than the MN Vikings will have the home field advantage for the play-offs which would be HUGE. The Vikings play better at home, they are more relaxed and subsequently play their game much better. So Vikings Fans start praying. Kick-Off is at 7:30!

Upcoming Minnesota Vikings Games

The Minnesota Vikings will not be taking a break for the Holidays... with just 3 games left in the Regular 2009 NFL Season, it is crunch time and the Minnesota Vikings roster is getting ready to go all the way.

First up is a Vikings-Panthers match up on Sunday December 20th. The Minnesota Vikings will play the Carolina Panthers on the road. Vikings fans will be able to catch the game which kicks off at 7:20 p.m. on NBC or Sirius Radio.

Next week (NFL week 16) The Minnesota Vikings have a huge game against the Chicago Bears in Chicago. While it isn't the Vikings-Packers rivalry, the Minnesota Vikings and Chicago Bears do have compete for many of the same Midwest Football Fans. With the close proximity of Chicago to the Twin Cities, this game is going to be crazy. Typically the Vikings Football Game closest to New Years is always an exciting one, the fans are louder, the players are fresh from a break and everyone expects a huge Minnesota Vikings win... I hope this game will live up to the expectations!

And then finally on January 3rd, Week 17, the Minnesota Vikings will take on the New York Giants at home in the HHH Metrodome on Mall of America Field. Vikings Tickets for the Vikings-Giants game have been selling like crazy and if the Vikings win both of their road games (totally possible), my guess is the game will be a total sell out.

Vikings Bengals Game Review

The Minnesota Vikings took on the Cincinnati Bengals last Sunday and had a blow out win. Pre-Game predictions made it seem that the Bengals would hold on against the Minnesota Vikings much closer than they did. The Minnesota Vikings walked away with a 33-10 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals.

After a scoreless first quarter, the MN Vikings started handing it to the Cincinnati Bengals. At the half, the score was 16-7 Vikings. The Cincinnati Bengals never came back. The Bengals did not score again until the 4th quarter but after 2 more Vikings Touchdowns it wasn't enough.

Below is a video of game highlights, enjoy Vikings Fans!

Week 14 Preview: Vikings vs. Bengals

All I have to say is that my Minnesota Vikings better be ready. The Cincinnati Bengals are a good team. currently they lead their division and with a 8-3 record, they are not that far behind where we are. While I am a firm believer in Vikings Confidence and I hate to send negative Vikings Vibes out into the universe, I must confess that I am a little worried that this could be a repeat of last week.

The Bengals are known to have an awesome pass defense, lets just hope that we have our running issues figured out, with the division title no longer "in the bag" the MN Vikings have no room for error! Working to our advantage, however, is fear... Coach Brad Childress surely chewed the Vikings Roster out in length after last weeks game, lets just hope the fear of not winning again will help them play a little harder this week.

The Minnesota Vikings will take on the Cincinnati Bengals at the HHH Metrodome, this Sunday at 12:00. There are still lots of Vikings Tickets left for this game, head out and help cheer the Vikings on to Victory!

Minnesota Vikings lose to the Arizona Cardinals and drop record to 10-2

The Minnesota Vikings took on the Arizona Cardinals last Sunday at the University of Pheonix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona... The Cardinals came ready to play, I really wish I could say the same for the Vikings roster. As much as I love my boys, I'm going to have to be a little critical...

First of all, Vikings Offensive Line... did they even go to Arizona? The Vikings O-line has been so strong all season, where was that vs. the Cardinals?

Second of all, Brett Farve is old in football years, that means lets not try and throw the ball every time, why not try running it every now and again?

Finally, Vikings Special Teams... Really Guys?! I know that when we are winning we don't notice how much they suck, but come on! Because a picture is worth 1,000 words, and it makes me too sad to type anymore, here is a video of the Week 13 Vikings-Cardinals Highlights... (enjoy?)

NHL Week 13 Preview: Vikings Cardinals

NHL Week 13 Preview:

This week the Minnesota Vikings take on the Arizona Cardinals. The Vikings have gone 10-1 so far compared to the Arizona Cardinal's 7-4. Meaning that at face value the Vikings should be able to beat the Cardinals and bump their record up to 11-1. That being said, Arizona Football fans are known to be some of the best in the country and the Cardinals will definitely have a strong home field advantage over the Vikings.

Help the Vikings out this weekend and think about taking a quick trip to Arizona, avoid the weekend snow and cheer the Vikings on to victory. There are still Vikings Cardinals Tickets left, think about enjoying some sunshine and taking in the Vikings game.

Lots to be Thankful for after Vikings Bears Game

The Minnesota Vikings took on the Chicago Bears over Thanksgiving weekend and added yet another win to the already impressive record they have created this season.

The Vikes played the Bears at the HHH Metrodome last Sunday, easily beating their rivals 36-10. Vikings fans were nervous after the first quarter went scoreless but 3 touchdowns in the second quarter that left the Minnesota Vikings up 24-7 at the half. Despite a late semi-surge by the Chicago Bears in the second half, the MN Vikings held on only letting "da Bears" score a single touchdown.

NHL Week 12 Preview: Minnesota Vikings vs. Chicago Bears

Thanksgiving Weekend always provides some of the best football match-ups at all levels, with everyone in a Turkey Coma there is no where I would rather be than on the middle of my couch, cheering the Minnesota Vikings and the rest of my fave football teams on!

This week the MN Vikings are taking on the Chicago Bears at the HHH Metrodome. Vikings-Bears kickoff will be Sunday 11/29 at 3:15. The Vikings-Bears game is one of the most anticipated games of the season, not only are the Bears the team to beat.. there is also a great Midwest rivalry between the Chicago Bears and the Minnesota Vikings.

Chicago Bears-Minnesota Vikings tickets are expensive but there are still some out there, so if you are going to be in the area, why not get yourself off the couch and into the Metrodome for one of the best Vikings Home Games of the year!

Week 11 Preview: Minnesota Vikings vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Minnesota Vikings seem to be untouchable this season, Vikings fans are hopeful that this weekend will be no exception. The MN Vikings are taking on the Seattle Seahawks at the Metrodome, Sunday at 12:00.

Vikings fans can expect that the Minnesota Vikings roster will be out for a big win. The Vikes will be using the Seahawks as a warm up round for the big Thanksgiving Weekend game they will play vs the Chicago Bears next week.

Below is a video from last years Vikings-Seahawks game... SKOL VIKINGS!

Minnesota Vikings use bye week to rest up, Vikings beat Detroit Lions 27-10

Vikings number 7 holding off a Lions playerThe Minnesota Vikings had week 9 off and clearly the rest did them well. Last weekend the Vikings took on the Lions at the Metrodome and walked away with yet another win under their belts. The MN Vikings beat the Detroit Lions 27-10 in an impressive game that had fans saying, this could be the season.

From the start of the first quarter the Minnesota Vikings roster controlled the field. An unanswered first quarter field goal, set the tone for the rest of the match up. The Lions were never able to come back from the point deficit and the Minnesota Vikings continued to bring it all the way until the final minutes. With over 400 net yards, the Minnesota Vikings showed fans they were ready to play.

This week the Minnesota Vikings play the Seattle Seahawks at home.

NFL Week 10 Preview: Vikings-Lions Game

This week the Minnestota Vikings, fresh off of their by week, take on the Detroit Lions at the Metrodome. With a 1-7 record the Detroit Lions don't pose much of a threat to the Minnesota Vikings... With that said, any team can have a great game and if the Minnesota Vikings and Brett Favre underestimate the Lions the results could be ugly. This should be a great game for Vikings fans and there are still great Vikings-Lions Tickets left. Why not catch this game live? Who knows maybe some of the excitement from the first Lions-Vikings match-up will happen again!

Below is a video-clip of highlights from the Week 2 match up between the Vikings and the Lions back in September.

NFC North Standings

The Minnesota Vikings have an undoubtedly one of the best season's they have had in a long time, if that is Brett Favre's doing or not who knows but Vikings fans certainly are not questioning it or complaining. Currently, the Vikings are at the top of the NFC North Standings, followed by rivals the Green Bay Packers.

With the Packers and the Vikings at 1 and 2, both Minnesota Vikings Tickets and Green Bay Packers tickets have become some of the hottest buys in the NFL.

Here are the NFC North Standings as of this week:
1) Minnesota Vikings (7-1)
2) Green Bay Packers (4-4)
3) Chicago Bears (4-4)
4) Detroit Lions (1-7)

Minnesota Vikings show Green Bay Packers Brett Favre was always meant to wear purple

They did it again! The Minnesota Vikings pulled off the game that nobody thought was possible, they beat the Green Bay Packers on Lambeau Field despite the boos from the crowd every time Brett Favre took the field. The Vikings ended the game with a 38-26 victory over the Packers and even more importantly bragging rights for the rest of forever.

10 years from now, nobody will remember Adrian Petersons text book first quarter touchdown of the 3 score-producing-plays run that the Packers went on in the 3rd quarter. What MN Vikings Fans and Football Fanatics alike will remember is that in the first season that Brett Favre was a Viking, Team Purple kicked the Pack's ass TWICE!

Doesn't feel good to say you are a Vikings Fan today?

Week 8 will be a BIG ONE, as Minnesota Vikings take on Green Bay Packers at Lambeau Field

The Minnesota Vikings may be just days away from the biggest game of their season. On Sunday at 3:15 the MN Vikings will play the Green Bay Packers, on their turf. The game has been uber hyped ever since the Vikings trompled the Packers at the Metrodome in week 4.

This time around the Vikings are playing in Lambeau Field in front of a crowd that will not be nearly as nice considering that Favre just a few seasons ago would have been sitting on the opposite bench wearing the opposite colors. Favre has said he is looking forward to returning to his former football home to play in his Vikings Jersey, somehow it seems like sweet justice considering the way the Favre-Packers relationship ended. There are still Vikings Packers Tickets left and if critics are right this is THE game to be at this season!

Below is a CBS Football Preview of this weekends game and some great insights as to what to expect when Brett Favre returns "home" with his new Vikings brothers. All I can say is SKOL VIKINGS!

The Minnesota Vikings have a bad game but are putting it behind them to focus on beating the Green Bay Packers

For as many prayers as I said that this would be the season that the Minnesota Vikings were going to go undefeated, win the Super Bowl and start a new tradition of winning in Minnesota.. I knew this day would come. The day when I had to report to you, my fellow Vikings Fans that the 2009 Minnesota Vikings Season has suffered its first loss.

Last Sunday, the Minnesota Vikings were in Pittsburgh to play the Steelers, despite a few strong plays including a great first half touchdown by Adrian Peterson and a 4th quarter drive and touchdown by Harvin, the Vikings lost to the Steelers 17-27.

The Minnesota Vikings roster made a solid attempt at taking on the former champions, but in my opinion it came down to a mental game and the Steelers psyched out the Vikings early on and my boys never had a shot at coming back. The Vikings had 386 total yards and 36 minutes of ball possession but with 2 turnovers and lots of penalty yards, they never really had a chance at coming back to pull out a win.

Despite the loss, the Minnesota Vikings are looking forward to heading to Green Bay and taking on the Packers. The Vikings roster will have to put this loss behind them and focus on beating their toughest rivals on their turf... a task that often is one of the hardest a football team faces in a season. All I can say is lets go Vikes!

Minnesota Vikings Week 7 Preview: Vikings vs. Steelers

This Sunday the Minnesota Vikings take on the Pittsburgh Steelers at Heinz Field in Pittsburgh, PA. Kick-off for the game is at noon and the game will be televised on FOX.

Many sports critics are saying that this could be the Minnesota Vikings first really big challenge. Nobody is knocking their 6-0 season, or the fact that at 40 years old Brett Favre is out-throwing most of the other quarterbacks in the NFL. What critics are pointing out is that several of the Vikes wins have followed after great breaks of luck or mishaps on the fact of the other team.

With last week being such a close game (31-33) hopefully Favre and the MN Vikings roster have taken time this week to regroup and tighten up the holes in the line that left many Vikings fans saying that the blocking against the Ravens looked more like a high school football game than professional football game.

There are still lots of Minnesota Vikings Tickets available for the Steelers-Vikings game and our boys could use all the help they can get, so follow the link for great Vikings Ticket Deals!

Minnesota Vikings Beat Baltimore Ravens to go 6-0

In a nail biter that had most Vikings fans closing one if not both eyes for most of the 4th quarter, the Minnesota Vikings defeated the Baltimore Ravens last Sunday to walk away from Week 6 of the NFL still undefeated putting them atop of the heap of the NFC North, 2nd in the NFC overall and 3rd in the NFL.

Vikings fans (myself included) are Over-the-Moon to be doing this well and most of us can see purple filling half of the Super Bowl Stadium. Even more of us are/or should be cognisant of the fact that this win against the Baltimore Ravens was not all skill, and banking on the luck that we had going forward is NOT going to be a good idea.

The Baltimore Ravens scored 3 touchdowns in the 4th quarter and sent my boys scrambling to finish them off, something most of us thought was in the bag... my point, while it is great to win and each win brings a boost to the confidence of our team, WE CAN NOT BANK on always winning... I think Brett Favre and the rest of the Vikings roster needs a good wake up call to say, Hey Guys you have to play every minute of every game! My hope is the 31-33 win over the Ravens shook the Vikings up enough to make them want more.

Check out this video of Vikings-Ravens Week 6 Highlights... Coming Up: Week 7 Vikings vs. Steelers

NFL Week 6 Preview: Vikings vs. Ravens

The Minnesota Vikings are at home this week and taking on the Baltimore Ravens. With a 5-0 record, Minnesota Vikings Tickets are about as hot of a buy as anything in the Twin Cities Ticket Market right now. Fans are coming out of the woodwork to be at games and show their Vikings-Pride. I did some looking and found GREAT tickets (we are talking Goal Line on the Vikings Side) for as cheap as $40!! These Tickets won't last though, so if you want to be at the game make sure to nab these tickets now!

Look forward this Sunday to seeing Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson come out strong, with the two of them being named the new dynamic duo, they are sure to be looking to show fans they will carry the team all the way. Lets hope Coach Brad Childress doesn't get in there way this week....

Kickoff for the Vikings vs. Ravens match up is Sunday, October 18th at noon!

The Minnesota Vikings beat the St. Louis Rams on the road to clench a 5-0 standing

Things are looking good for the Minnesota Vikings, Brett Favre has turned out to be a great quarterback, Adrian Peterson is on fire and the rest of the Minnesota Vikings roster has stepped up to prove that they deserve just as much spotlight as Favre is getting.

Last weeks game was no exception to this rockstar playing. The Vikes took on the Rams in St. Louis last Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome, beating at the home team 38-10. Right away the Vikings stepped out to show that they wanted to remain undefeated.

Riding a wave of excitement off of the week 4 Green Bay Packers win, Peterson and Allen pulled in touchdowns in the first quarter, a second quarter field goal and then 2 more touchdowns in the 2nd half insured the Vikings win despite the Rams best attempts to make a comeback. Few thought this game would be hard for the Vikings and they clearly proved that the win wasn't a challenge. Coming up in week 6 the Minnesota Vikings take on the Baltimore Ravens in Minneapolis.

Minnesota Vikings take on the St. Louis Rams on the Road

Coming off of a great win against the Green Bay Packers, Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson and the rest of the Minnesota Vikings roster are looking forward to adding another W to the scoreboard this weekend with a road game against the St. Louis Rams.

The Vikings take on the Rams at the Edward Jones Dome on Sunday at Noon. If the Vikings win against the Rams (which in my opinion is pretty likely considering that the St. Louis Rams are 0-4 this season) it will be their 5th straight win and one step closer to ensuring that the Vikings are on the right track to see big results at the end of the season.

The Vikings new-star will be turning 40 on Saturday but the haters who said he was too old are eating their words now. "(Favre's) still got great command of the football," coach Brad Childress said. "Whether command is touch, or velocity, or being able to pump it-let it go, he still has great command of the football."

There are still Vikings-Rams Tickets left, so if you happen to be in the mood for a Road Trip this weekend, scoop up Minnesota Vikings Tickets today!

What a game, what a game.. The Minnnesota Vikings and Brett Favre Beat the Green Bay Packers

Favre giving former teammate Rodgers a hug after the game
They questioned his true loyalty, they questioned his age, they questioned if Childress had put all of his eggs in one basket... Today the Minnesota Vikings Doubters are awfully quiet. That's because last night in a phenomenal game against the Green Bay Packers, the Minnesota Vikings won 30-23 in a end of the game play that was nothing short of beautiful.

Brett Favre completed 24 of 31 passes for 271 yards and 3 touchdowns

Adrian Peterson for 55 yards and a touchdown

Relatively unknown receiver Bernard Berrian made name for himself catching some great passes including a 31 yard text book pass and a total of 75 yards

The game was filled with great football start to finish, and although some critics are saying that the leadership on the field was better than the leadership that Childress was giving from the sidelines, what is more important is that WE WON and we BEAT THE PACK!

Minnesota Vikings - Green Bay Packers Game Preview

In case you have been living under a rock, I would like to use today's post to draw attention to the fact that the Minnesota Vikings and Brett Favre take on rivals (and former teammates) the Green Bay Packers on Monday October 5th at 7:30 in the HHH Metrodome. That's right sports fans... the former packer QB will be throwing for the Vikings on Monday to his new hometown crowd as scorned Packers fans look on.

Although the Green Bay Packers lead in the Pack-Vikes series 49-45-1, the Vikings won the 2008 match-up 29-27 and with the shock value of Brett Favre in a purple number 4 jersey many critics are predicting a Vikings Win.

While the media has had a hay-day with news coverage of Favre's first Packer-Vikings match-up in purple, we should remember that this is also the Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers first chance to step out of the light of being the "new Brett Favre" on the Packers roster, defeating Favre and the Vikings would be huge for Rodgers... The Vikings roster, especially Favre need to be prepared for a game of a lifetime out of Rodgers. I also think there needs to be note of the stakes on the line for both Vikings Head Coach Brad Childress and GB Packers head Coach Mike McCarthy. There are rumors from both camps that if this season doesn't go well, neither one of them will have a job... a win in the Packers-Vikings game would be a big boost for job security for either of these coaches.

So Vikings fans, I think its time for pre-game stretches, cheering and breath holding as the Minnesota Vikings set out to prove that the Green Bay Packers are nothing without Favre. GO Vikes!

Vikings beat the 49ers in an amazing end of the game play

So, for all of you Minnesota Vikings fans out there who somehow missed the game on Sunday I would first like to say, "Shame on you!" Real Vikings fans watch every game.... but I do understand that life happens and in that light I'm going to be your new best friend. Below is the video from the amazing end of the 4th quarter play that confirmed in just about everyone's minds that courting Brett Favre this summer was the best thing the Minnesota Vikings and Brad Childress could have done.

To set up the video, the Vikings had a rough start to the game and going in to the end of the 4th they were down 4 points and things weren't looking good. With just 12 seconds left in the game, Brett Favre threw a beautiful pass that landed in the end zone, winning the game for the Vikings and taking the Vikes record to 3-0 as they go into week 4 with a home match-up against long time rivals the Green Bay Packers.

The Minnesota Vikings take on the San Francisco 49ers at home

The Minnesota Vikings have gotten off to a great start this season, winning the first two games of the season on the road. This Sunday (September 27th) the Minnesota Vikings come home to the HHH Metrodome to face the San Francisco 49ers. The game kicks off at 12:00 and fans are eager to see their Vikes come back and play in Minneapolis.

The San Francisco 49ers have also gone undefeated this season (2-0-0), so this game should be a good one. With the Minnesota Twins ending their stay at the Metrodome soon, hopefully there will be some Metrodome Magic left over for the Vikings and this will be the 3rd straight win.

Minnesota Vikings Tickets are in huge demand this week because its the first week they are home. I did some looking online and found some great deals, but don't wait too long because these great Vikings tickets will be scooped up in a hurry. Don't miss your first chance to see Brett Favre and Adrian Peterson at home this season!

Minnesota Vikings vs. Detroit Lions in a Week 2 match-up

The Minnesota Vikings are playing the Detroit Lions on Sunday in Week 2 of the NFL season. Both teams are competitive this season and are out for blood in an attempt to prove that they aren't the bottom of the NFL barrel. The Minnesota Vikings are proving that they made a great choice in adding Brett Favre to the Vikings roster. Check out game highlights from a previous Vikings-Lions game and get an idea of what the Minnesota Vikings should be expecting.

Minnesota Vikings Regular Season Schedule kicks off on Sunday

Minnesota Vikings receiver with the ball
The Minnesota Vikings regular season schedule starts on Sunday with a Week One game against the Cleveland Browns. The season opener will be in Cleveland but televised on FOX so don't forget to tune in at noon. With the stellar preseason that my Vikings had, I'm hoping that Brett Favre and the rest of the Vikings roster can kick some Cleveland ass and start our season out right.

With big Vikings Home Games coming up later in the season, the Vikes need start their season out with wins if they want to be contenders for the post-season. I'm confident that my boys are going to rock on Sunday, tune into FOX for all of the play-by-play action!

Minnesota Vikings beat Houston Texans for 3rd preseason win

The Minnesota Vikings pulled out another preseason victory on Monday, beating the Houston Texans in Texas 17-10. Brett Favre passed for 142 yards and Adrian Peterson rushed for 117. With the Minnesota Vikings rolling through the preseason as well as they have there are start to be rumors that with Brett Favre on the Minnesota Vikings roster, my Vikes me be contenders for the Super Bowl!!

The Vikings take on the Dallas Cowboys tomorrow at the HHH Metrodome. Kick-off is 7:00. Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo who grew up in Wisconsin told a Dallas paper that even though he had grown up watching Brett Favre throw for the Green Bay Packers he is totally supportive of his switch to purple (trust me Tony, so am I!).

First 2 Minnesota Vikings Preseason Games are Wins

Favre playing as a Viking for the first time
Although it is still summer in Minnesota, evident by the abundant sunshine and smells of the state fair wandering through the metro this week... the Minnesota Vikings preseason is already half way over and the Vikings have two large "W's" to post on the scoreboard.

After an exciting Vikings-media-blitz centering on the Brett Favre signing, the pressure was on for the Vikings to prove that signing Favre was advantageous for the scoreboard and not just for the free publicity. My boys did just that in their second preseason game, the first time the Vikes were at home this year. In the Vikings- KC Chiefs match-up last Friday at the Metrodome, the Vikings dominated winning 17-13 with Favre seeing game time.

After the first big Favre win, it is rumored that Favre will be playing the whole first half in both remaining preseason games. If this is true, Minnesota Vikings Cowboys Tickets will be a hot buy, with all of the Vikings fans who missed out on Brett Favre at home the first time trying to get in on the action.

Brett Favre signs with the Minnesota Vikings (insert jaw drop here)

This summer's ups and downs with the Minnesota Vikings have made this Vikings Vixen question if she is losing her ability to read her team... After telling you all summer that Brett Favre was just days away from signing, then having to report that the supposed training camp deadline had come and the potential of Favre playing in purple was gone, I now have to take all of it (or half of it, I'm not sure) back.

BRETT FAVRE SIGNED A CONTRACT WITH THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS ON Tuesday August 18th.

After arriving in Minnesota on Tuesday morning, the former Green Bay Packer and retiree was picked up by Childress himself and the Twin Cities media followed the car like it was the OJ chase round two. The now famous pictures of Brett Favre in his purple helmet and red practice jersey have appeared everywhere, but just in case you have missed any of it the following is a video of his first day in Minnesota.

Tomorrow's Minnesota Vikings - Kansas City Chiefs preseason game will be a great one but Minnesota Vikings tickets are going fast so don't miss your chance to get in on all of the Favre mania, as he steps out onto the Metrodome field for the first time!

Friday, August 14, 2009

Training Camp is over and now it is time for the Minnesota Vikings to get down to business

With the end of the Minnesota Vikings 2009 Training Camp this week, one thing is clear... Nobody knows how this season will go for the Vikings. At the end of last season with 9 wins in 12 games and a historic play-off appearance, things were finally looking good for our boys. Then Brad Childress, supposedly the Quarterback Guru, spent all of the off season courting Brett Favre. Where did that get the Vikings, a fair bit of pre-season media attention but no quarterback.

So now, Childress is back-peddling trying to prove that camp has changed his opinion of Sage Rosenfels and Tarvaris Jackson, two quarterbacks that while he was chasing Favre were forgotten. With the first game of the preseason today it is clear that if the Vikings don't step onto the field confident with their choice, whoever it is, this season will be an uphill battle not only with the media but also internally to prove that they didn't just waste a ton of time with the whole Favre-mania thing this spring.

In my opinion, although it was tres disappointing to not have Mr. Favre pull on purple this season, Sage is ready. I have always felt that he was a good trade and if Brad Childress can make the right calls from the sidelines, Sage will be able to put the ball where it needs to be. Tonight the Vikings take on the Indianapolis Colts in Indiana, I for one will be glued to the TV in eager anticipation of seeing my boys out on the field for the first time this year!

Vikings Quarterback race is on...

Unless you have been gone from not only Minnesota but anywhere that there is a TV you know that Brett Favre, after months of going back and forth and flirting with Minnesota Vikings head coach Brad Childress, has decided that he will not leave retirement to play for the Minnesota Vikings this season... I guess I think I am surprised? It seemed like such a done deal but then again maybe it appered that way because I was hoping to see Mr. Favre in a purple #4 jersey, or perhaps I just liked what his joining the team would do to ticket sales... either way we are in a disappointment city.

The silver lining though, is now that I have put my crystal ball away and am done making Favre predictions, this Vikings Vixen can turn her attention back to more important things, like who will be listed as starting quarterback on the Vikings roster. As of the start of training camp there are 2 front-runners: Sage Rosenfels, the 9th year Vikings vet and Tarvaris Jackson, who is starting his 4th year in the NFL. Although neither QB has the star-power that Favre brought in Brad Childress believes that they are capable of taking the Vikings far this season. In a simple yet telling quote to the media Childress said, "We're Good." Lets hope so...

Minnesota Vikings Roster is starting to be nailed down

While I'm sure that if you just read the title to this post you may be led to think that the illusive Mr. Favre finally made his decision about if he would be joining the Vikings roster this fall... do not hold your breath, he hasn't yet.

No this post has to do with the Vikings 3rd round draft pick, Asher Allen who signed his contract with the Vikings today. Although the details were not publicly released I'm hoping that it was for 4 or 5 seasons and that the Vikings are going to hold onto the talented cornerback. The Vikings first round pick, Percy Harvin, and second round pick, Phil Loadholt, have still not signed contracts but have the training camp deadline quickly approaching.

The first day of practice for the Vikings is July 31st, so if you want advice from this Vikings Vixen, buy your Vikings Tickets before then because as soon as the final roster is announced ticket sales are for sure to go up!

One Last Brett Favre "prediction"

Brett Favre practicing in Mississippi

I know that it seems I have had nothing to say recently that didn't revolve around Brett Favre and what he will do come football season, but in my defense during the off season there isn't much to talk about. However, in an interview with the Associated Press (a source I would say is definitely reliable) Brett Farve was QUOTED as saying that he knew he was "running out of time" to give our Vikings the final decision. In the same interview Favre himself set the July 30 deadline, perhaps to squash the rumors that the delay was because he didn't want to play in the training camp.

When talking candidly about his arm and his expectations for the season Favre told the reporter, "I'm trying to make sure that if I go back that part is completely resolved."

He made an analogy to golf as well saying, "What if, Tiger Woods came back and found he didn't have the same game? He goes out and hits a 2 iron and he thinks it will go the normal distance it has all his life, then all of a sudden it's 13 yards short, and he says, 'I don't know why that is because everything felt perfect,' so that's what I have to get through," Favre said.

Many critics are saying that Favre has taken his sweet time making a decision because he is worried that unless he comes back on top of his game 100% he will just be the old guy who didn't know when to give it a rest. Though there are plenty saying he was always going to come back and he is just waiting for the best deal he can get. Either way time is about to run out and it seems safe to say that in a short two weeks this Vikings Vixen will be able to post about something other than Mr. Favre. Perhaps I will be able to comment on what his choice did to ticket prices?

A slow media day comes and goes

Two weeks ago, this Vikings Vixen reported that Brett Favre would be making his announcement to join the Minnesota Vikings roster on July 3rd supposedly a slow media day. No such announcement came, though Sarah Palin did take the absence of a Favre-media-blitz to announce that she will be ending her term as governor of Alaska... so maybe my prediction wasn't totally off.

With the football season still weeks away and training camps not until the end of the month, it is no surprise that almost all of the talk in football right now is the "will he or won't he" debate. A few heavy hitters have chimed in this week, only making it harder to decide what is "fact" vs. what is fiction. The Vikings trainer Eric Sugarman went to Mississippi this week to check in on Favre after his surgery and see how is recovery was doing, Sugarman reported back that Favre was doing well and would be ready to play by the end of the month for the Vikings training camp in Mankato.

Then Jerry Rice, a seasoned NFL veteran weighed in saying that all of the gossip spreaders (I guess that includes me) needed to remember one thing, Favre's age. Although he still is young by AARP standards, in football years he is well past his expiration date. While Rice never came out and said, "Favre should not play this season." He did seem to be saying that the game is fast-paced, the season is long, and Favre's arm isn't getting any younger.

So it seems, Vikings fans, we are no closer to a decision this week than we were last week and with all of these "experts" putting in their two cents, its hard to figure out if it will even benefit the team in the long run... All I can say is that I hope the announcement comes soon, the season is right around the corner and it is time to get down to some real football talk.

Brett Favre Rumors Are Far From Over

Another week passes and yet the Favre rumors continue to fly. With the supposed date of announcement getting closer it is no wonder that Minnesota Vikings fans are going crazy trying to figure out if Favre will or will not being pulling on purple this season. One thing is for sure though, if you already have a purple #4 jersey it is not official. The NFL apparel officials released a statement today saying that any of these “early-release” jerseys are NOT authentic and not endorsed by the NFL. Yet it seems with the hysteria mounting that companies wouldn’t be printing so many of these faux-Favre jerseys if they didn’t have some indication that they would sell.

With all of the Favre rumors and press releases it is hard to even remember there is a whole rest of a roster that is still making news and preparing to play football. Today it was announced officially, no pomp and circumstance necessary, that one of the Vikings 5 draft picks, Jasper Brinkley, reached a deal and now has a signed contract with the team. It is predicted that the Vikings intend to play Brinkley quite a bit this season and that he will be a fairly permanent fixture on the special teams.

Today’s announcement may just go to show that even if the Brett-mania turns out to be nothing but rumor and a crazy publicity stunt the Vikings are getting ready for a great football season and there are plenty of other roster members who will be ready to pull on the purple jersey and play. I for one can not wait to see the boys take the field!

Its official?

All of the Brett Favre rumors can be laid to rest, kind of. According to multiple sources this week, although the Vikings camp has remained mute, Brett Favre will be joining the Vikings at their July training camp.

According to radio announces and NESN.com, Brett Favre has agreed to sign with the Vikings and the team and Favre are just waiting for a quiet media day (supposedly July 3rd) to make the announcement. One source even went as far as to say that the equipment manager for the Vikings already had a purple jersey with the number 4 and Favre's name on the back ordered. Whether or not that is true, this Vikings Vixen can't really say but what I do know is that I would LOVE to see Brett play here in Minnesota and if all of these unofficially "official" sources are saying that the signing deal is on its way I'll go with it.

There is only one thing for sure with all of the Favre mania, if the Vikings do get this football legend, the game against the Packers this season will be out of control and I for one want to be there for all of the action. Stay posted for a more official announcement that Farve will be wearing purple this season!

Vikings Season Ticket Holder Event

Vikings Vixen thought the first ever “State of the Vikings” event was a cool move. Brad Childress Zygi Wilf and crew sat atop the State Theatre Minneapolis stage and talked to over 1,000 Vikings season ticket holders. What did they talk about? Favre, of course and what to expect in the upcoming season combined with a whole lotta of Vikings propaganda.

I am wise enough to know that the first ever event is an effort for the Vikings to appear more fan friendly which would help gain public support for that new stadium Zygi has been salivating over. I was surprised that the attendance numbers weren’t a little higher, but I think when season ticket holders RSVP’d they had no idea all the Favre hype would reach such an intense level. Imagine if Brett Favre himself would have been in attendance!

Anyway, every one knows that the decision to wear purple is all up to Brett – I personally am hoping for the chance to see Brett Favre in the Vikings jersey. The suspense is killing me.

Brett Favre Boycott

I am seriously considering a Brett Favre boycott on my blog. The Brett Favre news reports are getting ridiculous! And I am talking about the actual NEWS media reports, you know the PRESS – the people who are supposed to get it right and report truthful information to the masses.

I swear they sit around the newsroom and say - it’s a slow day, let’s report a Brett Favre story and ‘bam’ one is created – true or not.

On Monday, we all heard that the Minnesota Vikings (who exactly is it when they refer to the whole team – Brad Childress, Zygi Wilf, the secretary? Who?) imposed an end of the week deadline on Brett Favre to make a decision on whether he is going to join the Minnesota Vikings or not. I heard it on ESPN, but the local news was reporting the same deadline story. Then Yesterday, I heard Brad Childress himself say there is no such deadline in place. I was like, what? Come on.

I was actually excited to hear about the deadline. At one point I wanted Brett Favre to be a Viking no matter what hoops we had to jump through to get to him, but now I just want to know – “What is it going to be, boy? Yes or No?” (in true Meatloaf fashion) – I am sick of the “sleeping on it” status.

Percy Harvin from Gator to Viking

There is no doubt that Minnesota Vikings fans will be keeping an eye on Percy Harvin this season. The Florida Gator is excited to join the NFL Vikings and Vikings.com had some interesting things to say about him that has this Vikings Vixen pretty excited:

“Anyone who watched Percy Harvin play while he was with the Florida Gators knows how hard it is to contain him. Yes, he’s quicker than the eye and possesses an extra gear to burst away from defenders. But he’s also difficult to corral because he’s hard to locate – he never seems to line up in the same spot twice.

Perhaps the best way to describe Harvin is by calling him dynamic. He can line up out wide by the numbers, or in the slot, or in the backfield or even at QB. You can shift the formation with him, send him in motion or even snap the ball to him.”

And a little nervous:

“He’s struggled a little bit,” Bevell admitted. “And again, it’s not something that we didn’t expect because we’ve really put a lot on his plate. There was one pass (play) that he was blocking on. He just needs to get used to the terms…he heard one term in the play that means one thing but there’s another term that changes it. So he’s swimming a little bit but that’s to be expected.”

And excited:

“I look at that guy as a playmaker,” Vikings superstar running back Adrian Peterson said. “I look at him as a guy that once you get the ball in his hands he can definitely make a play and take it to the house. Opposing defenses are definitely going to have to respect that.”

“We’re throwing in some new plays and different looks out there,” Peterson said. “I’m sure he’s exhausted. I’m exhausted for him with all the running around he’s doing. But he’s a tremendous athlete and he has a lot of ability.”

Bevell offered a similar sentiment, saying that there are “20 to 30” plays designed to get Harvin the ball, with 15 to 20 of those that are new to the playbook since Harvin’s arrival.

I am sure Percy Harvin helped sell plenty of Florida Gators Football Tickets and I bet he will sell some extra Minnesota Vikings tickets, too!

Star Tribune Trying to Punish Vikings Fans

I just read an article about Jay Cutlers gun of an arm in the Star Trib and I am just wondering if the local Minneapolis paper is trying to punish us Vikings fans with all this positive press for our NFC North rival Chicago Bears? I know this is an AP report, but do they have to publish it? I am still upset that the Bears snagged Cutler in the first place and I have no doubt that they are going to be a better team next year because of it...dare I say better than the Minnesota Vikings - I am going to say better than the Minnesota Vikings minus Brett Favre, for sure.

I think I better find a good crying towel because the upcoming season could be a sad one.

Minnesota Vikings Talk Favre

The only thing on my mind is Favre, Favre, Favre. I am sure it is because I have become victim to the sports media madness that over reports “popular” stories and keeps sports fans on edge waiting for the next miniscule detail.

I am sure we won’t have any ‘real’ details on Brett Favre joining the Vikings roster until….August, but I won’t be able to think of much else until then.

Minnesota Viking Brett Favre

I was naïve to think we had heard the last of Brett Favre becoming a Minnesota Viking after last years long running debacle that eventually ended Brett with the Jets, but it hadn’t even crossed my mind much up until about a week ago when the sports media buzzed about Favre not returning to the Jets and possible donning a purple #4 Vikings jersey (which are being produced as we speak).

There seem to be so many positives about bringing Brett Favre to the Minnesota Vikings including his ability to immediately understand the Vikings offense, his NFL experience, increase ticket sales and fan buzz, the governor wants to see it happen, it would be good for a new stadium push and for Vikings merchandise sales. What are the negatives? Hurt other Vikings roster players feelings and the injury risk – those are negatives to adding any player to the roster, not just Brett Favre.

I doubt Chilly will be able to close the deal, but we will see. If Brad Childress doesn’t handle this right, you can bet that Vikings fans (including me) and Vikings sports media will be hitching up the wagons and grabbing the pitchforks –the backlash will be huge.

Minnesota Vikings Draft Pick Percy Harvin will Spice up the Offense

Here is the Vikings Vixen low down on the Vikings Draft picks:

Percy Harvin – you can read a bio on him on this Florida Gators Football Tickets site
I think this first round pick was a surprise to many fans, but I am glad we recruited someone to spice up the passing game. Our offense needs serious help – AP can’t do it all on his own and Sidney Rice and Bobby Wade are huge disappointments and frankly Bernard Berrian wasn’t all that special last year either…then again I guess you need a QB to lob you the ball. Harvin will have to deal with the druggie stigma for awhile, but maybe he could just claim his marijuana use was for medical reasons – our very own Minnesota Senate seems to think that is OK.

Other Vikings draft picks include the predicted offensive tackle Phil Loadholt from Oklahoma – I am sure he will start next year so he is pretty excited to be with the purple. The other Vikings draftees include Allen, Jasper Brinkley and Jamarca Sanford – want to know more about them? That’s what Wikipedia is for.

NFL Minnesota Vikings Regular Season Schedule

These are the games that are just too important for Vikings Vixen to enjoy from the sofa:

Mon. Oct. 5
Vikings vs. Green Bay Packers
It’s the Packers, it’s Monday Night Football – need I say more?

Sun. Oct. 18
Vikings vs. Baltimore Ravens
Two games in one month gets expensive, but I can’t pass up the chance to see Matt Birk back in the Metrodome even if it is just because I want to heckle him.

Sun. Nov. 29
Vikings vs. Chicago Bears
Jay Cutler vs. Vikings quarterback TBD – I can’t miss it.

Sun. Dec. 13
Vikings vs. Cincinnati Bengals
Hastings, MN native Ben Utecht plays for the Bengals. I watched him play in High School and I will be excited to watch him play in the NFL in his home state.

Sun. Jan. 3
Vikings vs. New York Giants
Santa better bring me a pair of Vikings Giants game tickets because I am willing to bet this game will mean something in the NFL Playoff picture.

I see local ticket brokers like Ticket King already have Vikings Tickets for sale!

Vikings Blog Comment from Pigskin Punks

I love this comment - - it made me laugh . . . yeah, my purple pride is for real, but I love pink, too and the purple vikings blog thing is so overdone. LOL!

My favorite comment of the week:

"Yeah Yeah, Pink pride?

I guess a vixen can stray from purple...Hit us up!

I like the pigskin punks site....but the language is a little rough . . . I wouldn't let little vixens check it out, but I will try to visit! Thanks for the comment!

Vikings Preseason Schedule

The first parts of the 2009 Vikings Schedule are starting to leak out. The Vikings Preseason Schedule looks like this:

→ Aug 13, 14 or 15 Vikings @ Indianapolis; new Indianapolis Colts head coach, new Colts stadium - should be a good game. I bet that new stadium smell will get Zygi all worked up.

→ Aug 20, 21 or 22 Vikings host Kansas City; I will love watching Jared Allen face off against his old team.

→ Aug 31 Vikings @ Houston; Jared Allen can wear his cowboy hat and fit in.

→ Sept 3 or 4 Vikings host Dallas Cowboys; Any bets on if Jessica Simpson will be shopping at the MOA. I hope Tony leaves her home.

This is actually an interesting schedule - Vikings Vixen is looking forward to pre-season. One of the best parts of Vikings pre-season, Vikings tickets are usually cheap! and that's no April Fool's joke -either!

Vikings Quarterback Hopes Dwindling

Yes, the Minnesota Vikings could have had Jay Cutler. I love Jay Cutler. I would have ran out and bought a purple Cutler Jersey today if they would have signed him, but nooooooo. The word on the street is that “some elements of the Minnesota coaching staff weren't sold on Cutler.” What? And you are sold on Tavaris Jackson? That doesn’t make sense!

If the Vikings hope to have any fan support next season, they are going to have to do something at the quarterback position. My Vikings Quarterback Hopes are Dwindling. Fast.

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Darren Sharper is a Saint

Really, he is. A New Orleans Saint.

It looks like Vikings Vixen is going to have to find a new favorite Vikings jersey to wear on game day because Darren Sharper agreed to a contract with the New Orleans Saints. I knew the Vikings weren’t interested in keeping him, but I think he was a real fan favorite and I am sad to see him go. I wish him all the best and I look forward to seeing his interception numbers in double digits next season.

Thursday, March 12, 2009

Sage Rosenfels – what can you say?

One of my friends works at one of those ticket broker places and she said her boss asked her to write a Sage Rosenfels biography for one of their websites. Now, my friend is not a football expert and frankly I would be more qualified to write a biography, but she did a pretty good job. You can check it out over on Vikings Tickets. Funniest part? She said the hardest part about the Rosenfels biography was finding something positive to say about him that would make people want to buy Vikings tickets to see him play. LOL! Way to build fan support team Childress!

Vikings Roster Ever Changing

AHHHHHHH! (in true Macaulay Culkin ‘Home Alone’ fashion). The Minnesota Vikings Roster is changing at a rapid pace. I am not sure I want to list all of the changes so here are just a few that I care about (after all it’s my blog...and yes, I know it is Thursday - but it's so early in the morning, it might as well be Wednesday).

Matt Birk – gone to the Baltimore Ravens, signed a 3 year deal. We will miss his steady hands at center especially since we have so much turmoil at the QB position. Personally, I don’t like him, I think he has a stinky attitude, so good riddance.

“The Minnesota Vikings thank Matt for all he did for the organization both on and off the field over the past 11 years. Matt has done a great job and we wanted him to return to the Vikings in ’09, but at this point Matt wanted a change of scenery. We wish him the best and know that he will always be a part of the Vikings family. We look forward to playing Matt this upcoming season at the Metrodome.”

Vinny Ciurciu – gone. I had high hopes for Vinny even if it was just because I liked his name.

Darren Sharper – will probably be gone soon, which means I am going to need to buy a new Vikings jersey this year. Who will I buy? That’s a topic for another blog post.

Jim Kleinsasser – here. The Vikings resigned him. Duh.

“We wanted him back and we’re glad he took time out from ice fishing to come in and sign his contract. Jim’s an important part of our offense and the kind of guy you want in your locker room.”

T.O. - a Vike? Maybe. Cowboys let him go and we need a receiver. It could be another “Randy Moss” in a Vikings jersey episode. I bet the Minneapolis meter maids are shaking in their boots at the thought of Terrell Owens in town.

Vikings Stadium Issue

I liked this comment from Cortney over at Style and Sports about the Minnesota Vikings putting pressure on the Minnesota legislature for public funding for a new Vikings stadium:

“And seriously, do the Vikings really need a bailout? Maybe they should experience a salary cut for themselves before they start begging the government for money.”

The Vikings Stadium issue is not going to go away…and all of us Vikings fans will know how serious Zygi Wilf is about the issue once we see which players he adds to next years Vikings roster. Is Zygi willing to loosen the purse strings to get players that will excite the fan base and put the Vikings in pursuit of the Super Bowl? If yes, you can bet that the stadium issue will keep coming up. If no, Zygi may look to take the purple quietly elsewhere.

Minnesota Vikings News

No time for long Minnesota Vikings news stories? You have found the right blog! Here are my snippets of this week’s top stories:

Brett Favre to Retire from NY Jets: Oh here we go again. Is it for real this time? No will know, not even David Letterman (remember when he went on Letterman the last time he retired.) Don’t erase those Favre to be a Viking headlines yet.

Zygi Uses Economy to Get New Stadium: Vikings owner Zygi Wilf is exploiting Minnesotans job loss fears to get a new Vikings Stadium Built with public (i.e. government) funding. The Vikings are jumping on the Bailout Bandwagon.

Want to read longer (much longer) blog entries from the guys over at the Pioneer Press? Check out my new Vikings Now widget in the sidebar. I don’t know if I like it enough to keep it forever, so it’s on probationary status.

Super Bowl Super Bowl

Super Bowl, Super Bowl on the wall,
Who is the fairest of them all?
You, Arizona Cardinals, are fair; it is true.
But the Pittsburgh Steelers are still
Three whole points fairer than you
.

It was a solid NFL game this year. The competition was tough and in the end I decided I would be happy with either team winning. Although I was leaning towards the Cardinals because I think the owner of the Steelers is icky and quarterback Ben is slimey, too. I don’t have any real opposition to any one on the Cardinals team – although I am bit tired of hearing about Larry Fitzgerald Jr. (and his dad!). In the end, it was a good game and I am glad I watched it. I have a feeling most people feel the same way.

I personally thought the Super Bowl ads were a little bit of a let down. I really liked the Budweiser “Fetch” commercial and the Bud “Horse Love” commercial. I also really like the E-Trade Baby – I think it is funny and ingenious (the E-Trade commercial was my vote last year as well). Most of the people I talked to loved the Doritos commercial with the snow globe, but I was concerned at how violent that commercial was – why is it that violence makes us laugh? I was surprised that there hasn’t been a news story on a rash of vandalism to vending machines since basically every person in America saw that commercial. Super Bowl ad thoughts ??? . . . leave a comment!

Super Bowl Sunday

No time to post pictures this week. Sorry, Vikings fans.

This Sunday is SUPER BOWL Sunday! One of my favorite days of the year. I hope it is a close game and I pick the Pittsburgh Steelers to win it all. If the Arizona Cardinals win, I will cry, because the Vikings are a better team than they are and that means the Vikings could have one – is that acceptable logic? It is for me.

Check back next Wednesday for my Super Bowl thoughts and keep an eye on the commercials, I love to talk about the Super Bowl ads!

Vikings could have made the Super Bowl

Well, I was only 50% correct on my NFL playoff picks and I am still stunned that the Arizona Cardinals are going to the Super Bowl. {STUNNED} That could be the Minnesota Vikings! The Vikings pummeled the Cardinals in week 14 (score Vikings 35 Cardinals 14) – the fact that the Cardinals are going to the Super Bowl just proves how weird this NFL post season has been and how (in the words of Paul Allen) “wide open” the NFL Playoffs were – meaning it was anyones for the taking….too bad the Vikings weren’t more prepared to take!

Any one out there have any BIG plans for the Super Bowl?? I don’t have any this year. My friend who usually throws a party is not going to this year (darn kids get in the way of her partying). I think I will just chill on my sofa and dream of the Vikings facing off against the Steelers.

Check back next Wednesday for personal Vikings pictures (I am finally starting a photobucket account)

Vikings Vixen Surprised by Playoff Teams

OK, I wasn’t going to admit this, but I picked losing teams for the Super Bowl! Long ago before any playoff games were played, I put my money on the Tennessee Titans vs. New York Giants facing off on February 1st in Tampa – WRONG!

Both Tennessee and New York lost their *home* playoff games last weekend – insane. More playoff action this Sunday…

AFC: Baltimore Ravens at Pittsburgh Steelers (I pick the Steelers)

NFC: Philadelphia Eagles at Arizona Cardinals (I pick the Eagles)

Who would have thought that two teams with less than 10 regular season wins (Philly and AZ) would be duking it out to go to the Super Bowl? Weird NFL post-season. I keep thinking that could be us, that could be the Vikings hosting the NFC game…if we could have just got past those pesky Eagles.

Super Bowl Bound

Hey, just because the Vikings are out of the NFL Playoffs, doesn’t mean us Vikings fans can’t still follow along. There are great playoff games to watch this weekend and be sure to CHECK BACK next WEDNESDAY as I make my Super Bowl predictions!

Vikings Season Ends, What should we look forward to?

Vikings Vixen missed a few weeks – yes, I know. I took a "holiday hiatus" and then thought about never coming back, but here I am. Yes, I am drawn to this illustrious pink blog about my beloved Minnesota Vikings. Just when I think I am never going to waste my time blogging about them again, I get sucked back in. I just can’t give it up. The Vikings are an addiction. It’s the emotional high and the emotional lows that make them a tough habit to kick.

You’d be living under a rock if you didn’t know the Vikings finished the regular season with a win over the New York Giants at home and secured a first round *home* playoff game. A game that they had trouble selling out – apparently, Vikings fans are feeling more hate than love towards the purple.

The Philadelphia Eagles showed up at the Metrodome and beat us 26-14. In fact, it appeared to this Vikings fan, that the NFL Minnesota Vikings didn’t even try in the fourth quarter – it was embarrassing to wear purple (or pink), not because of the loss, but because we didn’t even give it an ounce of effort. It’s no wonder the fans didn’t want to pay $$$ to watch that! Fans want to see a team that is pouring its heart and soul into every second and that is not what happened on January 4th, 2009 at the Hubert H Humphrey Metrodome. I am truly disappointed in the players and even more in the coaching staff. It is a coach’s responsibility to motivate the players to give it their all even if it looks like the chips are stacked against them.
